Hello again! Safe to say this is no longer a weekly blog what with my current job, which I’m fine with, but just so you know, now it’s gonna be sent with less regularity.
Since last we spoke I finally trained up the Hudson River Valley to the Beacon area and found some fun things up there. It’d definitely rural upstate vibes, but also ‘one train away from NYC’ vibes and many of the towns have USA flags on the side streets and pride flags on the main streets, which is a fun dynamic.
My highlights were:
Chapel of Sacred Mirrors - pictured below though unfinished, it’s Alex and Allyson Grey’s home/event site/church with all their psychedelic art on display in an incredible building. Even if you don’t like the art, seeing this kind of single minded presentation of one artists work was mindblowing. and they have big celebrations every full moon as well!
Mohonk Mountain House Hiking - pricey all inclusive resort built in the 1860s and added to ever since on a mountain lake, but you can pay just $35 for a day hiking pass and go sample all their trails, including the ‘labyrinth’ that features rock scrambling and via ferrata type trail elements.
Storm King Art Center - over-rated giant sculpture art in fields IMO, but the grounds are so gorgeous that they are worth the entrance alone.
FDR Presidential Library - the first presidential library there was, established by the president himself while sitting, and covering a long tenure overseeing the Depression, WW2, and lots of the American we live with today, government wise.
When you can host a whole LLM on your own device with your own data, you can get it talking to those of others without the social media algorithms meditating things and sucking away your attention like ads vampires. I imagine other things would step in to intermediate, but it does get one thinking…
Somebody vibecoded a solid app Burnerware for organizing your Burning Man camp and it can be used for any group camping for any festival, methinks.
Great read here about how power comes with responsibility, and when folks critique founders without stepping up, they cement their power. And the way to troubleshoot it is by asking ‘if i had a critique about the ruler, does it have anywhere to go other than the ruler themself?’ Focus there is on land projects but true of anything.
You Can Just Do Things is a book from Cate Hall and Sasha Chapin circling in my circles. We have more power in our lvies than we realize - the trick is using it!

Date Me Docs are out. Dwell with me docs are in! This couple made a wonderful document describing the type of people they want to live and cocreate with, and I love it.
Imagine being so land rich that you pay for a garden hermit to live in your forest just for your entertainment, lol. Apparently this was a thing!
