The Bread Dog adventure has gone through a playtest and some revisions, and even got some awesome new artwork from June Inkwell, a talented young artist I met at Geekfest in Everett last month!
Big thanks to my brother Michael, my kid Neo, and my niece Jaycee and nephew Joy for helping me playtest it. The playtest party were 1st-level characters using the 2024 D&D Basic Rules. We had a warlock with a shady past (of course), a very hungry paladin, a fighter who was more principled than the paladin, and a druid who harnessed the power of a good bread dog to fight an evil bread dog.
I was able to patch up a few plot holes and tweak some of the challenges. I'm now making final revisions and polishing the whole thing before it goes to layout. I'd love more feedback if possible, so I’m hoping to release a beta version later this week to collect broader input before finalizing the adventure.
One of the takeaways from the playtest was the need for a bare bones setting to tie all these adventures together. So, I’m happy to present my draft of the city-state of Corvindor as a free download with this post. Michael is working on a map for me that I’ll be adding to the PDF later this week.
Tonight we start playtesting Luminous, the second adventure in the series. Luminous takes us into a swamp that is the ancestral homeland of a goblin tribe. The party is headed there to visit a very unusual goblin who has some wisdom to share in his final days. There may also be some swamp monsters and greedy relatives that I admit were inspired by the Sackville-Bagginses from The Fellowship of the Ring.
I'm excited about how this is shaping up and can’t wait to share it with the world!
