Today Critters, we are tuning into the global movement of Plastic Free July which is in fact a daily practice to reduce plastic waste in general and single use plastics even more specifically.

Furthermore, we would now like to share with you a few of our own daily plastic reducing practices.

Heidi: Hello, Friends! Welcome to our take on Plastic Free July on this incredible Furever Friday! We’re going to keep things clean around here at CwC, starting right here, right now.

Jasper: Greetings, Critters. Thank you for joining us for this important conversation. The end.

Chris: Hello, Everyone, and welcome from the Couch. Also, the end.

Jojo: Dear Gentle Critters and Dear Gentle Readers, I luvluvluv you throughout Plastic Free July and everyday. Furever. The end.

Jasper: Thank you for that conversation opener, Jojo. Chris and I understand that you have incorporated a cleaning method into the nature of your daily walks in the Neighborhood.

Jojo: That’s right. Would now be a good time to say that we are all aware of the fact that the environment is inundated with plastic, much of it trashing the planet?

Chris: Yes, your timing is purrfect.

Jasper: Please. Proceed.

Jojo: When I am on my walks, we stop and pick up trash. Primarily. Plastic. Waste.

Chris: Such as, specifically?

Jojo: Thank you for the question, Chris.

Chris: You’re welcome, Jojo.

Jojo: Such as plastic caps, bottles, and wrappers. Would you like me to go on with this plastic cataloging of events?

Jasper: Fur sure, Jojo. What other descriptive descriptions can you provide? Please. Proceed. The end.

Jojo: Food containers and utensils and bags and cups.

Chris: Thank you for the catalog clarification, Jojo.

Jojo: You’re welcome. Furthermore. We pick it up not only to get it off the ground, but to keep it from making its way into the nearby creeks which then flow into the bigger streams and rivers and then into the big big river which flows into the ocean.

Jasper: Is that a full stop?

Jojo: Nope. Cuz. Once the trash is in the ocean, it continues to circulate.

Chris: It’s important to see the bigger picture on the planet.

Jasper: Correct. Chris.

Chris: Who trashes their own home? Who.

Jojo: Well said, Chris.

Chris: What.

Jojo: Therefore, Critters. Our local collection and daily practice at home in Oregon keeps plastic waste out of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, but also out of all waterways and oceans, off the beaches and out of the entire environment. Furthermore, we help protect wildlife from becoming entangled in trash or from swallowing it. The end.

Chris: It starts with ourselves. At home. At the risk of sounding pedantic, I must also say: We use biodegradable poop bags. However, please note that although our bags degrade on land, they may not degrade in the ocean. Therefore. We must endeavor to keep these out of the marine environment. The end.

Jojo: Well said, Chris.

Jasper: Chris, would you like to offer and proffer another important plastic free life hack?

Chris: Of course. Critters, I use Stainless Steel Food Bowls. The kibble stays fresh and healthy without any residual plastics entering your, shall we say, digestive system. The end and now I’m hungry.

Chris: Critters, please note that we have creature featured The Great Pacific Garbage Patch in our opening photo. But. Plastic pollution garbage patches are found all over the world in the calm, stable centers of ocean gyres.

Jojo: In other words, Chris, you are saying that gyres are like whirlpools that trap trash.

Chris: Yes. It’s exhausting. Although, I like calm and stable centers, I beg to differ about the trash. The end.

Jasper: Garbage patches are also found in smaller bodies of water, including the Mediterranean and North Seas.

Jojo: Along heavily trafficked shipping lanes?

Jasper: Yes and thank you for the question, Jojo.

Jojo: You’re welcome. And we simply must thank you for your participation in this conversation which has inevitably involved your non-starter topic of water.
