Aasta alguses on ikka justkui unistamise aeg - mida ma tahan, mida uus aasta toob?
The beginning of new year always feels like a time for dreaming — what do I want, what will the new year bring? Some dreams are big, others quite small, some are more like wishes that would be nice to see come true someday. I have been dreaming about one thing. And now, years later, I am holding it (him) in my hands. Along the way, I repeatedly had to answer the question: why do I need this (him)?…
I can see doubts attacking me. Looking back in time, I cannot point to any major or extraordinary change in myself. Not that there has not been any. Losing faith in yourself is unbelievably easy and fast — you don’t even need any earth-shaking life events. Sometimes a seemingly small thing is enough.
As I am sitting here writing this article on Father's Day, I am looking into myself - am I going to write about male and female (the relative polarities) or about genders - man and woman. My heart calls to write about man and woman, the gender of which we decided to take, in today's world, for this lifetime. I have started to feel in myself more and more the difference, and with that difference,…
Uus kodu on juba lapsepõlvest pärit unistuse täitumine, ometi leidsin end silmitsi kohanemisraskustega. Linn on 20-minuti autosõidu kaugusel, st ka toidupood pole enam ümber nurga. Õue astudes pole vaja võtit tasku pista ega ust lukustada, õue astumine ise on ka vaid üks samm. Ja kuigi maja on mulle tuttav, on siiski midagi teistmoodi,…
A little over a month ago, I moved into a new home. This new place is the childhood dream coming true, and yet I found myself struggling to adjust. The city is now a 20-minute drive away — meaning even the grocery store is no longer just around the corner. When I step outside, there’s no need to grab my keys or lock the door; stepping outside itself is just a single step. And although the house is…
Istun kivi otsas ja kraabin kühvliga kruusa. Ämbrid saavad kiiresti täis ja need on rasked. Sage vihmasabin aitab raskusele kaasa. Mehed tassivad ja ägisevad. Annavad meile väiksemad anumad. Aeg ja ruum muutub. Olen justkui teises kohas, sõnatu, mõtteis ja täis küsimusi. Huvitav on vaadata aega – aegu, mis joonistuvad välja pinnases kiht-kihi järel. Midagi mureneb, miski hiilgab ja miski lõhnab…
I sit on a stone and scrape gravel with a small shovel. Buckets fill up quickly, and they are heavy. The frequent drizzle adds to the burden. The men carry them, groaning. They give us smaller containers—time and space shift. I feel as if I am in another place, wordless, deep in thought, full of questions. It is fascinating to look at time – the ages that appear in the soil layer by layer.…
"Täna on sinu ülejäänud elu esimene päev.
"Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Irrespective of how badly we may have screwed up yesterday, or last week, or last year, today is the day on which we are going to put the past behind us, not in the sense of brushing it under the carpet, but in the sense of not allowing it to keep making us miserable."
The last years with my mother, when I consciously allowed her into my life and allowed myself to feel like a daughter, our relationship changed. It became one of mutual respect; we were equals. Two grown women, and both of us were mothers. She had time, because she could no longer hurry anywhere or go off to do her own things—she was bedridden. It was just her and me. Mother and daughter. She…

Waiting can easily become a passive state. We get stuck in one moment, postponing actions and movement toward our dreams, postponing even our own self-care. As if there’s no point in doing anything else until “that thing” has happened. But what I realized in that moment last week is this: such waiting is a form of self-victimization. Without even noticing, I had trapped myself.
