If you’re as anti-Trump as I am, if you’re against the whole idea of anti-governing as a weapon against democracy, if the current system feels like a bizarre nightmare with no chance of waking up, if “kakistocracy” is the new fitting word, if you’ve had it with all talk and no action, I’m here to tell you I have a plan:
Let’s just drive them crazier than they already are. Let’s make it our goal to make them so miserable they’ll wonder if there really is any place of privilege where they can hide. Let’s keep on hollering until they get the message that no amount of spectacle or money in the world is going to make us give up or give in.
Millions of tiny voices can add up to a sound heard round the world. We have it in us to do this. A big part of kindness is in being mean to bullies. There’s an art form to putting them in their place and it goes far beyond calling them names or getting our digs in about how they look or talk. They take that as a fun challenge, going so far as to sue us if we dare to point out their fallacies and their follies. No, they welcome our derision. They turn it around and make us look like the bad guys. And MAGA buys it.
We have to hit them where it hurts: in their pocketbooks and in their phony power plays. If they buy up the media, we stop watching and listening to what they have to offer. We can create our own, as we’ve begun to do right here on Substack. We can make ours bigger and better. We can tell the truth without fear. we can provide proof that they’re lying, because we’ll have built a network where when proof is provided we pass it on.
Everywhere, all at once.
There are no limits to the hours we can do this, no limits to the numbers of us at work to get our messages out. Repetition is a weapon. If the story is worthy enough, we’ll let the enemy know we’ll be relentless in keeping it alive. (See the Epstein files.)
We can call them “the enemy” because that’s what they’ve become. They chose to become the enemy of the people and they’re using lies and money as their only power. Their lies are easy to dispute. The money angle is bigger. We’re talking billions now, not just millions. They’re trying to buy up everything—and they will if they can—but we’re here to show them their money can’t seduce us. Nor can it scare us. We do that by exposing every rotten thing they do, every rotten thing they attempt, every rotten person they recruit. Every time.
We use our pens, our keyboards, our voices, and we keep going, no matter how loud we have to get, no matter how long it takes. The key is in keeping it going. They expect us to quit, to give in, to capitulate. We won’t do it.
Ever.
We need our voices to be loud, to be clear, to be persistent. I did a recruitment piece for resistance writers at WRITER EVERLASTING. Take a look. Let’s show them how real Americans fight back. We have it in us. Each and every one of us.
