Back in May I got on a call with a long time subscriber.
He’s running a business, was living in Bali at the time, and he wanted to talk about why things were stuck.
The business has a lot of moving parts. He wants to grow, he wants to push harder, he knows he has to do more. He spends hours sitting at his desk stressing about it. But when he’s honest about it, his actual deep work output is minimal, and he hates himself for it.
Meanwhile he’s in Bali and he’s not even enjoying it. He hadn’t gone out in over two weeks. He wants to build his character, have experiences, live his twenties in a way he won’t regret. But he feels trapped by the work, even though the work isn’t really producing much.
He also felt flat, low energy, guessed his T was around 400 based on how he felt.
And then, he said this:
“All day locked up working but it just feels like I’m focusing for 4 hours... I want more experiences and to not spend my whole twenties getting rich and be the 30 year old without any character and lived life.”
I stopped him mid sentence: “bro… you just said everything right there” That’s the whole problem in that single sentence.
He already knew the answer. He just hadn’t given himself permission to act on it.
That call was in May. I’m posting this at the end of July and he’s fixed most of what we talked about that day, and he’s now doing multiple 5 figures a month.
I asked him recently what he’d say about the calls we’ve done. He sent me this:
Let me walk through what I told him.
