Hey friend,

How are you?

One of the biggest stories out last week was the US announcing nearly $2 bn for faith-based US development organisations. These include World Vision, ADRA International, Catholic Relief Services and World Relief and funds are largely earmarked for global health initiatives.

So, keep an eye on them for future opportunities and brush up on your bible studies.

I also read this fascinating story about Kenya’s AI journalism factory - how AI is helping entrepreneurial would-be writers to churn out polished pitches and stories to overseas publications that pay well.

It’s a definite sign of the shaky ground beneath the feet of journalists around the world as AI threatens the whole industry.

Two days ago, on August 15, also marks five years since the Taliban retook Kabul, plunging Afghanistan into deeper humanitarian need and a human rights collapse, especially for women and girls.

It’s a devastating situation with girls as young as eight forced into child marriages so the rest of the family can survive.

What did 20 years of foreign troops in Afghanistan achieve?

And in Colombia, the death toll continues to rise from its 7.4-magnitude quake a week ago, while a similar tremor and aftershocks strike Indonesia.

On a more positive note, clever doggies are helping conservationists to sniff out endangered species in Africa.

In Cambodia, giant Apopo rats are used to detect unexploded mines in the ground.

It’s good to be reminded of a few positive news stories.

And we’re still there to write them. Real people. AI be damned.

With that in mind, let’s get to this week’s 47 new comms roles.

Note that some are only open for a few days or are closing soon, so don’t delay.

As you know, the Comms 4 Development Jobs Board is a weekly list of paid roles (no volunteer or intern roles) and carefully curated by yours truly.

It’s for communications professionals in the global development sector.

All roles are handpicked and open to non-locals, in developing countries only.

You won’t find anything else like it.

And it’s delivered straight to your inbox bright and early every Tuesday morning (AEST) (except for today!). For the bargain price of $US10/month.

Paid subscribers get the full deal, 2 hours ahead of everyone else, while free subscribers get 10 roles picked at random.

I do the hard yards finding these gigs so you don’t have to! You’re welcome.
