Hey, there! It’s launch day here at ComixTribe HQ, and we’re bringing back a fan favorite… EPIC the Superteen Action Comedy written by me and drawn by artist Matt Zolman!
ComixTribe is mostly known for darker faire… SINK, OXYMORON, HAPPY HILL, etc. Most of our catalog has a dark horror bent to it. When I was writing THE RED TEN I enjoyed playing in a twisted more cynical superhero world where every hero was hiding a twisted secret, and the more layers that got peeled off, the more rotten the core… That book got dark!
EPIC, however, has always been my palette cleanser. This book is sheer, unabashed, earnest love of the superhero medium, classic Stan & Jack storytelling updated for today, where every issue you know you’re going to get something that puts a smile on your face.
And so, it’s with a hearty smile on MY FACE that I’m thrilled to be bringing the series back to Kickstarter after another hiatus with an all new extra-sized FIFTH ISSUE and easy and economical ways for NEW READERS to catch up on the series.
After a freak accident gives ordinary teenager Eric Ardor extraordinary powers, he does what you would do. He dons a costume and becomes EPIC. It’s a fanboy’s dream come true, but there’s a catch…
He’s powerless around anyone he is attracted to.
Living in Miami, home to the world’s zaniest supervillains and most alluring eye-candy, Eric must somehow protect his city knowing that at any time his powers might turn off whenever he is turned on!
“I just want to draw fun cool sh*t…”
I’m probably paraphrasing some, but Matt Zolman is one of the best artistic partners to have, and that’s the only real mandate he’s given me. By day, Matt works an serious job as a successful project manager, which means that drawing EPIC is the thing he does in his down time to unwind.
I consider that a mandate to pack not just every issue, but every damn page with something Matt will love drawing… and I figure if I’m having fun writing and Matt is having fun drawing, there’ll probably be some readers out there who enjoy this book, too.
With an extended page count and a desire to expand the EPIC universe even further we opened this issue with an extended scene featuring an all-new villain team… because we can!
