A lady in our home Bible study remarked, “If someone had just made up the story of Jesus, our Creator, dying on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, we would have thought it too far-fetched to even be in fiction.” God’s love for us will be the theme of our adoring worship throughout eternity.
God’s love will not allow Him not to show us His love. Dr. William Clarke described God’s love as “His desire to impart Himself and all good to us and to possess us for His own spiritual fellowship.” One aspect of divine love is that it demands expression.
It’s phenomenal that He chooses to reward us so greatly for the little we do for Him. If we resist a temptation, give money to the poor, or speak a kind word, He’s eager to reward us for it.
God’s love causes Him to place a high value upon us individually. We are each exceedingly precious in His sight and receive His loving attention as separately and tenderly as if we were the only one in the world. G. D. Watson in his book Our Own God, says that God could give an angel a description of our right thumb or the way we weep or smile, and without any other mark to identify us, that angel could pick us out from millions of others. God knows and is interested in every detail about us—our secret thoughts, loves, and longings.
Even when we feel unworthy of His love, God has special regard for those who are confident of His love and mercy. “The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love” (Ps. 147:11).
Dear Lord, enable me to live expressing my love for You.
“How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They are innumerable!” (Ps. 139:17 NLT).
August Memory Verse
“The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy”(Psalm 147:11).
