Hi, I’m Jenn Fast. I host The Comeback Show, a biweekly podcast about the messy, honest work of rebuilding your life in midlife and beyond. Women who’ve walked away from careers, marriages, health crises, and the versions of themselves that stopped working. If any of that sounds like your season, subscribe free to get every episode as it drops.
A year ago, I almost signed papers that would have ended my third marriage.
I had done all the work. Therapy. Journaling. All the things you are supposed to do. And I still could not tell if I was leaving because I actually wanted to leave, or because I was so tired of the fighting that ending the whole thing looked easier than fixing any of it.
What I know now, and did not know then, is that my gut had actually been telling me the answer for months. I just could not hear it under all the noise.
That is why this week’s episode landed the way it did.
My guest is Jen McKillop. She is a Master Intuitive, a coach, the host of her own podcast called Awaken Your Path, and a mom of four with a fifth on the way in September. And what she does is take the fuzzy, almost-embarrassing thing most of us call “a gut feeling,” and treat it like the actual instrument it is.
Her own story is the throughline. She grew up with a father who was an alcoholic. Then she got pregnant with someone who was also an alcoholic. She was in that relationship for seven years. It took her a full year of working on her own self-worth, with a shaman she had never met before, to become the woman who could walk out of it.
She has now been quietly training her intuition for the last two years, and this is the episode where she stops being quiet about it.
Three things she said that I have not stopped thinking about:
NOTE: Upgraded subscribers, keep reading and please enjoy the episode! Free subscribers will have full access to the episode and newsletter 48 hours later on Friday, August 28.
One: Intuition is the thing that hits you fast and first. Everything after that is your emotions rewriting the message. Which explains, at long last, why most of us think we do not have intuition. We have it. We are just louder than it is.
Two: When we cannot decide whether to release a relationship or repair it, the question is not “should I stay?” The question is “how many more lessons do I need to learn in this before I can leave it without carrying it forward?” That reframe alone is worth the whole episode.
Three: Before the age of seven, we absorb the beliefs of the adults around us as if they are our own. And then, for the rest of our lives, our subconscious runs 90% of our day on that borrowed script. When you finally have a moment in your forties or fifties where you cannot remember who you actually are, that is why. You were never running your own program.
If you have ever second-guessed your own knowing until you could not hear it anymore, this one is for you. If you are in the middle of a decision right now and the outside noise is louder than the voice underneath it, this one is really for you.
Jen is warm, grounded, funny, and firmly not woo-woo in the psychic sense. She is the intuition-for-the-skeptic version of this conversation. Which is exactly what I needed on the mic, and I think you will feel the same way listening.

One small ask before you go:
If you know a woman who is standing in her own version of the slow-boil right now, quietly overriding what her body is telling her because the outside world has an opinion, forward her this letter. That is how she finds it. And that is how this show grows.

A quick note from me
If this episode surfaced the exact ache — that you have been talking yourself out of what your body already knows — I built the free 5-day Self-Trust Reset Challenge for that woman. It is short, it is doable, and it is the first step back to hearing yourself.
And a quiet aside: The Comeback Show is recorded and edited in Descript. If you ever start your own show, that affiliate link supports mine at no extra cost to you.
