The Collective PAC Applauds DNC for Putting South Carolina & Nevada First in 2028

WASHINGTON, D.C. — July 22, 2026

Quentin James, Founder and President of The Collective PAC, released the following statement:

“This is what it looks like when the Democratic Party listens to its base. On Wednesday, we called on the Rules and Bylaws Committee to put South Carolina and Nevada first, because no Democrat wins the White House without Black, Latino, and AAPI voters, and no nominee should be chosen without hearing from them first. Yesterday, the Committee did exactly that. We thank the members of the Committee for getting this right.

“The contrast could not be clearer. While Republicans work to silence Black voters after gutting the Voting Rights Act, Democrats just voted to put Black voters at the very front of the process of picking a president. That is more than symbolism. It means candidates will build their campaigns, their platforms, and their coalitions around our communities from day one.

“The work isn't finished. The full DNC meets in Austin next month to ratify this calendar, and The Collective PAC urges every DNC member to vote yes. Then comes the real test: matching this calendar with real investment in the organizers, the candidates, and the infrastructure in these communities. We've spent ten years building Black political power, and we intend to make sure the voters who go first in 2028 are also funded first.”

For a decade, The Collective PAC has worked to build Black political power, helping elect more than 500 candidates, raising over $50 million, and training more than 2,000 operatives across the country.

The full DNC is expected to ratify the 2028 calendar at its August meeting. The Collective PAC urges Rules and Bylaws Committee members to send forward a calendar that puts South Carolina and Nevada first.
