Colin M. Fisher · The Collective Edge

Hi there, Collective Edgers. (OK, not a great name - we’ll workshop it!). It has come to my attention that many of you received a notification with the WRONG TIME for Monday’s live cross-over episode with Wendy K Smith of It's Not An Either/Or. This is unquestionably due to my incompetence, plus Substack being overzealous in auto-emailing about the live event before I had checked the details. The correct details are:

Monday, March 9, 12 pm - 1pm EST. Here is the link to log-in.

If you want to really nerd out with us, some of our conversation will cover Kenwyn Smith and David Berg’s classic article on the paradoxes of group life, which you should be able to read via this link. Richard Hackman used to assign this article in his famous “Social Psychology of Organizations” class at Harvard and it made a big impression on both Wendy and I — which we took in very different directions.

Not only is Wendy the Queen of Paradoxes, but she’s also got amazing knowledge of navigating academic careers, serving her paper “Toward a Theory of Paradox: A Dynamic Equilibrium Model of Organizing” won the best paper of the DECADE award from Academy of Management Review. She has BOTH held leadership positions in the field, such as serving as an Associate Editor for Academy of Management Journal, AND become a leading public intellectual.

If you want to become a paid subscriber but the money is daunting, message me and we’ll work something out. And, if I already told you were a paid subscriber but don’t have access, let me know - I’m still learning the mechanics. Or just upgrade below!

And, a quick reminder to get your tickets for TCE’s official mezzo-soprano, Carola Emrich-Fisher’s performance on International Women’s Day next Sunday, March 8th at 3 pm at Lauderdale House.

You made it this far because you have gone above and beyond in your support of The Collective Edge, whether its bookish, newsletterish, or humanish form.

Honestly, it caught me off guard when paid subscriptions came in. I didn’t have a plan. But I have some special bonuses for the most steadfast supporters.

For those of you who didn’t yet receive or lost track of them, here are the goodies I’ve doled out to paid subscribers thus far. Enjoy!
