Octobers and persimmons

the years have piled on top of us like thick sediment, a layer of lime that slowly suffocates.

notes from inside a body that gave too much

when the world seems to move on without you

like a prayer you don’t believe in but are too scared to stop saying

you flinch when touched, but you’re fine

we walk the same streets now

to the ones who trusted and got too close

out of breath, but i don’t know how to leave
