Going back to school is always exciting for me, but I don’t think that I am ever ready. The transition from summer mode to school mode is a huge shock to the system that I don’t think I’ll ever get used to.
On Saturday afternoon, I finally was able to get some work done in my classroom. It was a cool rainy day, and it actually felt kind of nice to be putzing around at school. Setting up my classroom this year took me less time than it has taken me in the past. We moved schools half way through last year, so I had just done a ton of work weeding my classroom library, and I was able to get rid of everything that wasn’t essential. Also, I have come to accept that my classroom just isn’t going to look fancy and pretty. Don’t get my wrong, I’d love to have one of those classrooms. I love them! I just don’t have what it takes to pull it off.
What my classroom does have is a teacher that loves his job, cares about the kids that he serves, and a whole lot of fantastic books. I think that is a pretty good start.
In the video below I give a quick tour of my classroom. Maybe once the year settles in, I’ll give a more detailed video of my classroom library.
I added some titles to my list of AWESOME 2026 BOOKS.
Thank you so much for reading and subscribing to my newsletter. I hope your school year is AMAZING!
