Introducing Wake Up with Coffeehouse

Wake up. Grab some coffee. Give your stories the time they deserve.

Los Angeles is a city driven by big dreams, but daily demands can easily push those dreams aside. Between work, responsibilities, meetings, and everything else competing for our attention, it can be difficult to make meaningful time for the creative work that matters to us.

That is why we created Wake Up with Coffeehouse, a new monthly co-writing and co-working gathering hosted by the Gaff Sisters.

Wake Up with Coffeehouse exists to help writers make meaningful time for their work. Once a month, we will gather at a local coffee shop, pour into our own creative cups, and give our stories the attention they deserve.

The gathering was created with screenwriters in mind, but it is open to filmmakers, writers, and other creatives looking for a welcoming place to focus, make progress, and work alongside people building something of their own.

Maybe you have a screenplay you have been meaning to start. Maybe you are halfway through an outline and need a reason to finish it. Maybe you are trying to solve a story problem, edit a project, answer emails, complete an application, or return to an idea that has been sitting untouched for longer than you would like to admit.

Bring it with you.

Writers can use this time to exchange ideas, talk through story problems, connect with fellow creatives, and, most importantly, sit down and write.

This is not a formal class or workshop, and there is no pressure to arrive with a finished idea or prepare a pitch. It is simply a space to show up, grab some coffee, find a seat, and invest in your work.

You are welcome to hang out for an hour or stay for the entire morning. There is no pressure to arrive right at the beginning or remain until the end. Our goal is to create a welcoming and supportive space where writers can begin the day invested in their art, then carry that sense of accomplishment and creative momentum forward into everything that comes next.

Wake Up with Coffeehouse is completely free. We will be meeting once a month for the remainder of the year, with the hope of making these gatherings more frequent as the community continues to grow.
