The Innocent

The moment you log in to your computer, open up your phone… you see the headlines everywhere about all that’s going on. Top headlines, everywhere. Many people are not totally surprised but many others are in shock at what they are hearing and all the videos surfacing online and of victims coming out online to share their story. It reminds you of the *Me Too* movement.

These things that have happened are not only regarding one person but of many of people’s favorite people, people you would never thought of caught in some jam. Is caught up in some jam. Many people saying… I’m glad I never got into that industry because wow the things we are seeing that happened to these people from the last few years have been disturbing.

Indeed, it’s all disturbing. Very disturbing. Sadly, it’s not just the Entertainment industry, it’s many others. Like the world is so corrupted.

Seeing all of this stuff in the news is like so triggering for me. Like I have been having flashbacks and dreams of periods where I was violated.

You think back to your younger self, and you remember the times when you thought you could trust someone, and you were wrong. You look back at the time when everyone knew and did absolutely nothing. The time when you reported it and no one believed you; when it happened again with someone else; you wanted to report it but you thought who would believe you?

The time when people of the same gender as you, invited you to hang out with them only for them to put something in your drink so the opposite sex could try to take advantage of you. The people you trusted were sometimes your own family and other times the family friend who were not to be trusted.

You remember the conversations with someone and how they blame the assaults on women by the way they dress, the way they carry themselves but yet you remember, you always dressed modestly, carried yourself responsibly and the abusers would say things like… you are so innocent. Yet it’s the way women dress and carry themselves that causes these things they say… or maybe it’s the innocence in a person. That the abuser knows they could manipulate to take advantage of said person because of it.

The problem is… sometimes the abusers are not easily detected. They can be the people you know and trust and do life with every day. Yet, they have a wicked soul.
