🚨 Speak Their Language

You are sitting across from someone you care about and you say something that feels perfectly clear.

But they hear something completely different.

  • You meant it as a logical observation. They heard criticism.

  • You were trying to be direct. They felt dismissed.

  • You were looking for solutions. They needed empathy.

And now there is friction where there didn’t need to be.

We blame the timing, the words or the relationship.

But the real problem is simpler: we are speaking different communication languages.

  • Some people think in systems and strategy.

  • Others feel through values and impact.

  • Some need data and logic.

  • Others need warmth and connection.

When you speak your language to someone who speaks a different one, they don’t just misunderstand you.

They feel misunderstood by you.

I have watched this play out a thousand times:

  • INFJs see the human impact and get frustrated when others don’t slow down to care.

  • ESTJs see the execution path and get frustrated by endless exploring.

  • ENFPs see the possibilities and get frustrated by rigid paths.

In reality nobody is being difficult. They are just not translating.

When you travel you use Google Translate. You don’t force locals to speak your language. You meet them where they are.

The same principle works for communication styles:

  • To connect with an INFJ: Lead with purpose and impact.

  • To move an ESTJ: Give them a clear and actionable plan.

  • To inspire an ENFP: Show them the endless possibilities.

You don’t change who they are. You speak their language.

I built something to automate this process.

It is called MBTI Translate and it works exactly like Google Translate but for communication styles.

You type your message, select their MBTI type, and the tool rewrites it to resonate with how they think.

  • A founder can translate vision for an INFP employee by adding purpose.

  • An INTJ can translate feedback for an ESFJ team member by adding warmth.

  • A partner can translate their needs for their spouse by speaking their language.

Next time you are about to send an important email, give difficult feedback or pitch a proposal, just pause.

Ask yourself: What is their MBTI type?

Then translate.

Watch how much clearer you become when you stop trying to make them understand your language and start speaking theirs.

P.S. Don’t know their MBTI type? Take the quick 4-question quiz to find yours first. Then you can start translating.
