Monday Flotsam and Jetsam

Probably the most oil dependent nation on earth is China. It is said that 70 out of every 100 tons shipped into a war zone is fuel and water. If China ever did invade Taiwan their only pipeline for oil would be through Russia because all the other outlets would boycott them. That’s another reason why what’s happened in Venezuela and what’s happening in Iran is so important... Half the cost of a lithium-ion battery is the cathode and 90% of them are made in China. This is why this announcement from Tesla is so important. And why Tesla remains light years ahead of other EV manufacturers… Iran’s currency fell to 2 million rial to just one US dollar. Makes you wonder what the price could be to just buy the whole country? That could make the Louisiana purchase or the deal to buy Alaska seem like top of the market deals... If the Canadian trade deal collapsed because Canada was trying to pass off Chinese goods as their own to avoid tariffs - then I fully understand why the talks fell apart. What I don’t understand is why Canada would be willing to help China when they killed Canadian high tech... Speaking of Canada… In case China invaded Taiwan - Russia would have a hard choice to make: the EU which has grown dependent on Russian fuel or China and put their pipelines up as military targets... Guessing Pete Crow-Armstrong will beat Shohei Otani for the NL MVP not just because PCA is putting up great numbers but because there’s a certain fatigue with voting for Otani at this point... She’s not wrong. Have you been to upstate NY?… If Alberta does vote to become independent from Canada - I hope one of their first acts would be to make English their official language (no more French)... Wait - what?… Makes you wonder if part of the reason China has gone all in on nuclear power and is leaning so hard into EV cars and batteries is because they know oil is a military and economic weakness?...
