scream at your kids. It is important to start doing this at a very young age. This way your children will also scream at you and at other children. mow your lawn often. Talk to the other neighbors to make sure that you are not all mowing the lawns at the same day. In a perfect world there is at least one very loud lawn mower audible every day. saw something. Book review: The Invincible

The Invincible by Stanislaw Lem (1964) I read the book, because i played the game and did not like it. First of: The Invincible is a great title. You read the title and your thoughts start running wild. 'Whoah, The Invincible. Who is this guy? Is he really invincible? Wow, what does he do? Who is he? Can nothing beat him?' Amazing title. Makes you pick up the book immediatly. Sparks interest. I…

i feel humiliated

'i feel humiliated.' She said to me. In a supermarket in italy. I did not want this. I feel terrible. Hurting someone you love so much. There is nothing worse.

Be kind

Today i met Jessica. I was walking to the calisthenics park shortly after 7 in the morning. There is usally no one there beside me but today a woman of about 30 years of age was walking around there. As i started to get ready to work out she approched me and asked me if i worked here. At first i did not understand what she meant and told her that i just work out here. She was apparently fascinated…

Say hi

I just added an e-mail link to this blog. aaaaand suddenly i feel anxious about it. I planned from the start to do this at one point and today i read a post from someone, that found it sad to not have the option to reach out to someone whose post they really liked. This gave me the final motivation to do this now. But... What if... ... someone actually writes me?! What should i answer? What if i…

The quote that always makes me smile

'...they discovered only a small asteroid inhabited by a solitary old man who claimed repeatedly that nothing was true, though he was later discovered to be lying.' At work we have a tool that creates fake data to populate the database of our service. There is one field that gets filled with random quotes from Douglas Adams The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy . So i come across this quote…

Random character selection

In my dream tonight was a girl i went to school with. We were friendly, but not really close. Just a girl i talked to occasionally. At this point i havn't seen her for about fourteen years. I don't think about her at all. Not to sound mean, but she is just a person i went to school with that i never saw again afterwards like so many others. And tonight my brain decided: 'Hey here is someone you…

Someone young died

I was walking to the calisthenics park to test out some new pull-up straps i bought. The park is next to the cemetary. There were a lot of people there. Lot's of cars not only on the parking lot of the cemetery but also on the parking spaces for the sport facilities. Lot's of middle aged people standing around, or walking to the graveyard. Someone young died. I don't know who, or how old the…

Fiction sucks, read self-help books

Raccoons post got me thinking. There certainly are a lot of overhyped self-help books out there. A few months ago i finaly got around to read 'Thinking fast and slow'. I would agree that the core idea of the book can be summarized in a few paragraphs. The rest ist lot's of mildly interesting experiments that the auther did. I don't think it's a bad book but i was constantly debating with myself…

Dynamic step goals

I love the dynamic step goal that my Garmin watch has. Instead of a fixed daily step goal, it adjusts the goal depending on how you were doing the last few days. So for example if your step goal was 7.200 steps today, but you only managed to get around 6.000 steps in, tomorrow you will have a step goal of maybe 7.000 steps. It's like it is saying: "I see today was hard. Look let's try for a little…
