Hey Friend!
Remember watching Will Smith lose his S#*T and clobbering Chris Rock?
That shock factor was something!
Don’t you wish you get that WOW feeling when seeing a beautifully designed website?
OK, OK… Seeing beautiful websites is not for everyone (call me a ‘website geek’).
But one thing is for sure….
… Most websites these days are all starting to LOOK THE SAME.
Where has all the creativity gone?
And yes, I get it.
You need to make sure that your website follows high conversion principles and good UI/UX practices.
But that’s no excuse to play sheep and make your website look like every other templated site out there.
The problem with playing it safe is that you won’t stand out.
And in today’s overcrowded digital world, you can’t afford not to stand out.
That’s why I’m making it my mission to give kudos to those who have taken that leap and applied creativity to their web designs.
Extra kudos for those website that DON’T:
1. sacrifice high conversion principles or the user experience; or
2. go over the top with pointless animations that don’t really add to the user experience.
Here’s what I want to say about fusing high conversion and great user experience with unique & stunning websites…
… It is possible!
Your website needs to hit people across the face with clarity.
Within seconds, visitors should know, who you are, who you serve and how you serve them
Clear messaging is your foundation - nail this first.
Once messaging is solid, bring in the creative side: custom illustrations tell stories stock photos never could and thoughtful animations guide eyes exactly where you want them. These aren't just decorative, they're strategic conversion tools.
The magic happens when clarity meets creativity: Messaging hooks them logically and visuals hook them.
Make sure your animations serve a purpose beyond "ooh, shiny!"
Nothing kills conversions faster than slow-loading eye candy that doesn't help users.
With all this said, I found 5 websites that slap harder than Will Smith:
Season Koto Studio – Using a retro cookbook theme for a branding agency? Weird but it works!
Stripe – Proves financial tech doesn't have to look like it was designed by a boring robot.
The Coffee Miners – Turned coffee accessories into characters with more personality.
Alex Wright Psychotherapy – Made therapy look so beautiful I almost want to develop issues just to visit.
Rive – Created call to action buttons so fun to click that I spent 5 minutes just hovering over them like a weirdo.
