Long-time residents of Cherokee County notice the visual change in the landscape. Residents moving to Cherokee in search of a quieter, slower paced lifestyle are feeling the fast paced change as well.

Tired of Traffic & Rapid Growth
At the county website , rezoning applications completed in 2024 were downloaded and evaluated by our team. There were 38 applications submitted. 4 were withdrawn, the remaining 34 were approved. Below is a graph displaying acreage and the codes the properties were rezoned to.
One case notably helped our county retain green space. - 149+ acres was rezoned to back to AG.

Please visit the county website and make sure the Resolutions check box and Variance check box are clicked so you can see what rezoning cases Cherokee County property owners have filed and have been approved. Resolutions are the completed and approved rezoning applications. Variance represents allowances given to property owners that requested a change to stipulations.
The planning and zoning board members are positions appointed by the commissioners. Members of the zoning board are listed at Cherokee County Zoning Board of Appeals where you can also see who appointed them and the term expiration.
