my right hand started to go numb on thurday evening and feeling hasn’t returned, so this will be short. i have some things i’d like to share with you. i’ve been home a lot this year. this is the first time in few years i am not actively promoting a ‘big’ record, working on a larger project, or planning on anything besides what happens to merge into my lane. my lane used to be wide, taking up immeasurable space, and leaving little room for others to have a lane. i’ve enjoyed this year even though the work has been slow and my lane is narrowing. i’ve been cataloging every song i come across that uses the phrase “changing / switching lanes”. this is why i am saying lane lane lane so much. anyways - my lane hasn’t exactly changed but my metaphorical lane-vehicle has. at first i thought i switched from a car to a bicycle. but really, i am on the public bus. it takes forever and i control very little but i am surrounded by interesting people and experiences that constantly surprise me. my physical health is by no means ‘bad’ but it has been better than it is. numb hand is a small part of a larger whole that can be summed up with my doctor’s current favorite answer to symptoms “maybe? more autoimmune?”. taking time to rest is still new to me and getting to the doctor via public transit takes a bit longer. obviously, i am grateful to have access to the doctor in 2026 america etc… but yes, lots of stuff (nothing serious but all very annoying) is going on in my world even though artistically / professionally nothing is really Going On.
i’ve been making music at home and in my studio when i can. when i can’t make music, i make mixes of music i am enjoying. when that drains me, i listen to WIP and upcoming music that my friends are sitting on. it will always amaze me how much work my friends create. what a wonderful thing to exist alongside.
okay. my regular post-noon fatigue has hit, my hand is hurting more than before typing, and i have to do my PT exercises before i nap and close my lappytop for the day. below is what i wanted to send out but felt like writing a weird confessional/biographical thing was required now that im on the new social media for longwinded narcissists masquerading as a mailing list site.
as always this was a one-shot, no edit letter from me 2 u
the sales pitch:
united states emo ambient hats are back in stock and shipping now
my monthly NTS show continues - listen back to July’s show here
Martyna Basta and i play live in New York this October
i have a collaboration to share with you later this month ( ^ )
as always x2 - bandcamp subscription is the way to support me most directly. as i stay offline more and release fewer “promoted” projects, this will be key in keeping up with my creations
i’ve included a short mix of some (old and new) favorites from the past week. under half an hour of music, ideal for headphones / being in transit / early mornings

here a nice photo that (mostly) encapsulates how i have been spending my time lately. creating and mailing out personalized postcards for my friends, reading the entertainment section of the weekend paper, making progress in physical therapy & eating congee for breakfast every day.
blows my mind how strange it feels to not be cramming new music / a slew of tour dates / more merchandise down the throats of the willing reader. i suppose it is probably best for everyone if that can become the new normal. life can be good even if you’re forced to take it slow.
