I am so sorry. I’ve been working on an essay that has me so absorbed that I simply forgot what day it was. (Dan’s been on vacation, so my week has lost its structure: One day is just like the next.)
I was so fascinated by what I was learning that it made me lose track of the external world.
But I just realized that it’s Sunday, not Friday, as I’d somehow thought—and that I forgot completely to let everyone know that there won’t be a symposium today.
Of course, if you feel like gathering at the customary hour to discuss anything you feel like discussing, please do. I won’t join you, because all I want to do is keep working on this essay.
If you organized your schedule around the prospect of a symposium today, I sincerely apologize. I hope that when you learn what I’ve been learning about, you’ll think it’s worth it. In fact, I’m sure you’ll think so. We live in an awful time, but also an absolutely astonishing one.
I also promise that the essay that results from momentary my fugue state …
