The Super Bowl champion goes through Santa Clara, but it’s not the only boost to the regional economy this week.
According to new data released today by BEA, San Mateo and Santa Clara were the fastest growing county economies in 2024, among the 100-largest counties in the US. San Mateo easily out-distanced the field, reaching nearly 10% inflation-adjusted GDP growth — about 4x the top-100 average. Santa Clara was next at about 6%, finishing just ahead of King (Seattle). Collin (DFW) and Maricopa (Phoenix) round out the top five, according to BEA’s estimates.
We now have five years of publicly available data for local economies since the pre-pandemic peak. While California may be in the spotlight this week, Texas can still claim three of the top-five spots since 2019:
