Gemini's Razor - The System isn't Dumb, it's Greedy

I’ll confess AI tools blow my freaking mind. The abilities I now possess to visualise, express, research and market are incredible. I can sketch presentations in minutes with just my voice.

Below is just one such example, which I produced originally by accident (clicked a button on Notebook LLM), then edited when the Brand Name arrived.

But what infuriated me this morning and produced this insight from Gemini, was that I couldn’t easily access it in the language I speak.

Here was an amazing tool, yet something as simple as a USER INTERFACE IN MY OWN LANGUAGE wasn’t simple. No button, no setting. Nothing.

Long story short - apparently travelers/nomads are enough of an edge case to render us too costly to serve effectively. Changing the language of the interface, reduces the advertising results.

This seems to be to be a legacy issue. One of path dependency. As a system designed today could no doubt navigate this with a bit more finesse and separate search results from the entire user interface - or at least I hope so.

Yet when dealing with businesses and capitalist problems in general it’s a good heuristic.

Where Hanlon’s razor gives us “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”

Gemini’s Razor gives us. “Never attribute to stupidity that which is can be better understood by greed”

Splice the 2 and we get to the root of most issues.

Never attribute to malice, that which can better be understood by greed.

Money isn’t the root of all evil - it’s just a tool.

Greed however produces more Evil than all the other Sins combined.

Generosity is the Virtue we must cultivate to counter this force.
