Hi and thanks for dropping by!

I’m in my final stretch before baby and have been quite busy wrapping up Tonnessen Studio (see our new website here!) and house projects. One thing that’s been on my list is to finish hanging art and decorations in the mud room. It feels so good to cross this off my list and even better to look down the mudroom hall from the kitchen and see how pretty and functional it is now.

The mudroom was one of those spaces that came together through a mix of practicality, sentiment, and pieces collected over time. We kept the existing cream cabinetry paint in the kitchen so extended the paint into the mudroom trim as well (bye-bye black paint) and stripped the floors to reveal the original bluestone underneath. Finding a wallpaper that worked with both the warm-toned cream paint and the blue-toned stone floor proved surprisingly challenging, but the blue in the final pattern brought out the color of the stone beautifully and the ground matched perfectly with the trim paint to tie everything together. This felt like a stroke of luck!!
