Hey there,

Hope you’ve been doing well. It’s been a while since I’ve given you guys an update on my life. Here is the update:

physicsgraph.com

This has consumed my life for the past 12 months or so. There’s 3 of us working on this now and it’s been great.

The first real goal of the platform is to increase the number of students taking and succeeding on the AP Physics 1 test. We’ve been working with Alpha School on this, and we think we’ve done a pretty good job, using state of the art learning science principles that simply don’t exist elsewhere in physics education.

Mainly what annoys me is, not all students can afford the one on one physics tutor, or the incredibly expensive test prep offerings like Princeton Review (take a look at some of their prices here) that winds up costing in the thousands.

But we have the technology (and it’s not AI btw) to offer what is essentially a one-on-one tutor to every student through an all-encompassing mastery learning system equipped with a spaced repetition system (essentially, carefully designed reminders of lessons and exercises that you’ve already done just when they’re about to slip out of your memory).

When I think back to when I was teaching as a professor, no matter how well-meaning a teacher may be, there’s simply no way of teaching the material to each student the way that each student needs. The student coming from an inner city school that didn’t even have physics, and the international student who has taken the course three times already have vastly different needs, and they both can’t be met in a 200 person classroom.

Even in high school, a 30 person classroom is too large. The max that even the most well-meaning teacher in the world can handle giving the one-on-one tutor experience to is about 5 students in a class at a time.

So, the AP Physics 1 test is in May, and I need your help. We’re recruiting creators that are interested in getting the word out. We have three requirements:

  1. You take initiative/are high energy

  2. You have good taste

  3. You’re an undergrad student or recently graduated

If you’re interested, fill this out: https://forms.gle/LoNWtR73yYDc5Sjv9

And of course, you’d be getting mentorship from yours truly 😼. We’ll see if I still know a thing or two about getting views on TikTok…

All the best,

Chris
