Chris Lowry · Chris’s Saturday Special

Focus on the wins, I told him

He’s 14 and tends to dwell on missed opportunities sometimes

He played ball with the top 40 kids in the county

By invitation only and based on stats he earned in tournaments in the spring

By data and measures, he’s one of the best

And yet, he struck out in one AB

At Bat

Slung a single at another

And walked at the next

Even as the highlight reels showed some of the bigger boys slamming dingers into the scoreboard on a Tennessee field

Focus on what works, I told him

And what we need to do is work harder and smarter and better

Advice I wish I could take myself

I do a lot of work

I do a lot of effort

And I tend to focus on the misses too

Focus on what ain’t working

And call it optimization

Instead of being satisfied

Even for a moment

For just how well the systems are working

A biz guy told me that’s normal

That once you reach a new level

That’s the new baseline and anything short of it

feels like failing

And more than I love winning

I freaking HATE losing

And that mindset means I might not have the skills to level up

Or the know how or the where with all

But I will work my mind to a frazzle and fingers to the bone to beat that baseline

I wish I could focus on the little W’s

Like I preach to you

to him

to anyone

Yesterday started a new challenge

To myself

To you too, if you want

100 Days

It carries me to Dec 6

I made a list that I won’t share with you

But I will share the focus

Stacking dubs in work

in fitness

in money and my mind

Because anyone who does anything for 100 days will do two things

Fill the column with micro-wins that act as overwhelming proof of progress

And stack that deck in favor of success

In essence, doing “the thing” for 100 days turns you into the House

You know the rule, the House always wins

That’s just the math of it

And I’ll give you how I started the W’s on day 1 of 100

It started the night before watching the lunar eclipse

Then up before the dawn to watch the sun rise

Two wins stacked before the majority of people were even awake

Then I filled the day with work and gratitude

Which is reminding me to remember to be grateful and search hard for the good things

The more you look for them, the more you see

At least for me

And while there were a couple of misses for things I wanted and planned to do

That’s okay

I may not have checked them off, but there were still more hits than misses

And 99 days from now, that’s all that counts

You know that feeling when you find a great show?

One episode turns into three.

Three turns into “I should probably go to bed...”

But you don’t.

Because you need to know what happens next.

That’s the feeling I wanted to create with the Shadowboxer Files.

A thriller binge you can take anywhere.

Instead of spending an hour searching for something good...

You already have your next adventure waiting.

No algorithms.

No scrolling.

No disappointing endings.

Just:

A dangerous mission.

A hero pushed to the limit.

A story that pulls you forward one chapter at a time.

I created special thriller bundles for readers who love action and suspense:

The Complete Thriller Collection — $20
