Hey, friends.
As I write this, it’s the 1 year anniversary of our move to the wilds of Humboldt County, and less than 1 month before our wedding! Between work and preparing for the big day, Chelsea and I have both been super busy. I’ve also been taking a Medieval Literature class this fall. All of these factors have contributed to my posting less on Substack.
All that being said, I am writing this to inform you that the paradigm shift I predicted in 2025: The Year of Magic continues to roll on.
One thing I would not have predicted is that Dan Brown’s new thriller, The Secret of Secrets, is all about nonlocal consciousness (which I wrote about in my post Consciousness First), near-death-experiences, psi phenomena, and all the other ‘woo’ topics I’ve been writing about this year on Mind, Meaning, and Magic.
I’m not a huge fan of Dan Brown’s prose style (“As a Harvard professor with washboard abs, Robert knew, of course, that the Defenestration of Prague occurred in 1483…”) but he is good at what he does: packaging esoteric historical, philosophical, and scientific content in the form of a tightly-plotted, fast-paced thriller that will reach millions of people. In fact, I suspect that this book will help bring the conversation about consciousness much more into the mainstream by the end of this year. Anyway, I’m reading it right now and it’s pretty fun, so far.
On a related note, Dean Radin, Ph.D., of the Institute of Noetic Sciences has a new book coming out in October, called The Science of Magic. This book will expand on Dean’s previous book, Real Magic, which is currently the best summary of the existing psi research. The crazy part is that Dean is also featured as a character in Dan Brown’s novel. You can listen to Dean talk about it with Gordon White on the Rune Soup podcast, here.
Even as the world is awash in political violence, divisive rhetoric, and economic uncertainty, a new worldview is taking shape: a worldview in which consciousness, not matter, is primary, and in which the human mind is more powerful than we could have possibly imagined. A worldview in which there is hope for our survival, and perhaps even flourishing. I see this Substack as my own, small way of shifting consciousness in a more hopeful direction.
I’ve also got a really exciting announcement to share (way to bury the lede, Chris): I just recorded the first episode of the Mind, Meaning, and Magic podcast this Friday, featuring very special guest Connirae Andreas, creator of Core Transformation and The Wholeness Work. (See my previous post: A Technique for Dissolving the Ego).
This is something I’ve been wanting to do for years, and the opportunity to interview Connirae finally kicked my butt into gear. Make sure you’re subscribed here and you’ll get the episode in your email when it comes out.
Thanks for reading,
Chris Cordry, LMFT
