Intuition
I hear
the silence
change its tune.
Which task
belongs
to now.
~
I feel the room
before
I enter.
I’ve learned
his smile
can hide infection;
a clear afternoon
can easily
turn opaque.
~
No Google search
teaches the language
of my son.
But every sleepless night,
every transfer,
every prayer
between alarms
has become
another lesson
in fluency.
~
“How did you know?”
ask curious
bystanders.
A magician
never tells.
I know…
because I’ve asked.
~
But every now and then,
I see fragments
of the answer
through grateful
steel-blue windows.
~
He smiles
and the trick
is revealed.
His gift,
untempered grace.
My reward,
unfettered intuition.
