Hello and welcome to the Spring edition of my quarterly newsletter! I’m so glad you’re here. I’ll be using this space to share highlights and offer a glimpse behind the scenes of my work as an editorial and commercial photographer.
I’ve long held my favorite part of this job is getting to step into other people’s worlds and briefly live a life that’s not my own. These kinds of trust based relationships inspire me. To that end, Spring has been full of eye opening experiences: I photographed my first water treatment plant. I visited a nuclear fusion facility. I revisited a place I grew up around from a new perspective. I spent time with mayors, musician siblings, a nonagenarian, a contortionist, multiple Microsoft executives, the CEO of an aerospace company and more. That’s all to say, it’s been a busy year so far!
I’ll be in LA June 21-25 and NYC July 1-3. I’d love to meet with photo editors, art directors, producers and fellow creatives. I’ll be hopping on the road with Pedro the Lion for a short stretch of tour dates after NY, which I’m really looking forward to.
I’m thrilled to share that my portrait of Lisa Hallett for AARP made it into the American Photography book this year. I also had two pieces shortlisted for Communication Arts this year. Thanks to all the judges!
In 2024, carving time for personal work has been a revelation. I view this work as a way to explore what inspires me, refine my style (something I believe to be an ongoing journey), learn new tricks and have ✨fun✨. Here's a look at some new work.
Movies are a huge source of inspiration. I just created a Letterboxd account, feel free to follow along.
Last movie I loved: Iron Claw, a gripping rumination on generational trauma and grief.
Movies I’m looking forward to: Anora. Also… not going to lie: Twisters!
I’ve been listening to: Everything Marg.mp3 recommends.
Thanks for sticking it out! You just unlocked my Spring playlist 🎶
