Chi Alpha UNI is a campus ministry at the University of Northern Iowa. We exist to give every student at UNI an opportunity to seek God, be shaped in community, and sent out on mission! On this podcast, we feature teachings from our Tuesday night gatherings.
Chi Alpha UNI’s director, Pastor Derek preached his final sermon, reflecting on how leading Chi Alpha UNI has been the journey of a lifetime. He also shared how we can live the journey of a lifetime ourselves by living others-focused, going all in with Jesus, and having unreasonable belief in people.
Pastor Joel shared a message on the importance of persistence in prayer - calling us to keep crying out to God and to trust that He will move. He challenged us to build our faith this summer, believing that as we do, God will find faith in us when the fall semester comes and that He will move powerfully on our campus.
Pastor Joel preached on the idea that we are made for such a time as this. He shared his vision for the future of Chi Alpha, emphasizing his belief that God has uniquely positioned us for this moment, and that we’re just getting started with what He wants to do here.
Pastor Derek shared a message about being ready for more, reminding us that Christ never intended for us to live in comfort. He also spoke about how Chi Alpha UNI is made for more and shared an important update about its future.
Guest Pastor Ryan Yates spoke on the question, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” He explored both Scripture and his own personal story to bring insight to the topic.
Pastor Derek shared a message on the power of the Holy Spirit and why we intentionally make space for Him to move in Chi Alpha. He grounded it in Scripture, explaining spiritual gifts and why we are called to pursue them.
Pastor Daniel preached on why we affirm women in ministry. He walked through the biblical foundations for this belief, showing that it’s rooted in Scripture, not modern cultural trends.
Pastor Joel kicked off our new “Why?” series, where we explore some of today’s biggest questions and hot topics. In this message, he unpacks why we can trust the Bible, drawing on both historical evidence and biblical principles to challenge us to place full confidence in God’s Word.
Pastor Amber preached on how our culture subtly teaches us to idolize romance above our relationship with the Lord. She reminded us that Scripture shows only God loves us deeply and faithfully enough to be worthy of our worship.
Pastor Derek teaches on honoring our bodies and living holy lives in the area of sexuality, reminding us that God’s design is far better than what hookup culture promises.
