I’m just saying, in another life, I was a home editor.
You know, the one who got to call in all the pretty home things to test for the magazine? They always had the BEST desks and closets at work, and even better spaces in their actual homes.
Anyway, since this weekend is Mother’s Day — and Mother’s Day always makes me feel all the things — I wanted to keep this one light. So here it is … an ode to the magazine editor I would have been in another life.
I’m putting “dining room” in quotation marks because we have an open floor plan, so to call it a “dining room” at all is technically cheating. But by moving the curtains all the way up to the ceiling, I did make the space look bigger and more specific, so I’m pretty proud of this one.
I’ve had the rocking chair from my almost-10-year-old’s nursery in the reading nook in my room ever since we moved into this house, even though it never worked in the space.
(To be honest, it never worked in the nursery, either. But the way that baby stores suck you into thinking you need things just because they are labeled as “baby” or “nursery” is a whole other story.)
I finally upgraded to this beauty from Anthropologie, and I’m so happy. Just don’t ask me how much I paid for it, okay. It’s not something that’s open for discussion. (That’s because, like baby stores, Anthropologie has a way of making me feel like I should spend my money on specific things, too.)
The previous one was just white. Let me tell you how much this one small change brightens up this area!
That’s it, friends. Three small upgrades that bring me infinite joy every time I see them. It doesn’t take much. Thank you for indulging in my many interests here on this little newsletter. It’ll be interesting to see how the open rates go on this one. I’m so close to 2,000 viewers! Here’s hoping pretty home goods is the one that brings it home.
In case you read through this and were like what in the world is this drivel, here are a few more serious topics I’ve covered recently, in case you missed ’em:
Here is last week’s post about how to help your kid stop having nightmares.
Here’s one about what to do with a problem.
Here’s one about how to fight FOMO.
You’re welcome.
I also want to take a second to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to everyone out there who celebrates. And to anyone who has complicated feelings around this holiday, I get that, too. I see you, and I hope you’re able to find some peace.
Taylor & I attended the Local Author’s Book Fair for The Read Queen last weekend … and sold two books. Hah! Sometimes that’s just the way the cookie crumbles, friends. Still, it’s never a waste hanging with a friend, and we walked the Farmer’s Market after, which was a lot of fun!
We are getting so close to being print-ready with Book No. 3! It’s going to be a real fun fall, friends. I can promise you that.
Taylor & I are taking a bit of time off in May to juggle the end-of-the-school-year insanity.
It’s, like, literally insane, friends. Am I right?
But I can’t wait to see you in June! First up is the Lowry Bazaar at Denver Beer Co. I’ll be there Saturday, June 6th, from 1 to 7. Stop by for a beer and a book.
What could be better?
Until next week … bis bald, friends!
