If you’re like me, you’ve never been too good for Captain D’s or just a good Crispy Beer Battered Cod and some Hush Puppies. Usually I’ll pick some up on the way home, but this week I bought all the ingredients and decided to make everything at home so you can all see how easy it is.
For this recipe I used Cod but haddock, hake, pollock, and halibut are great substitutes. And of course, if you don’t want to use a beer for the batter, use a very bubbly club soda. The extra bubbles make the batter light, airy, and crispy. You can also substitute the avocado oil for your favorite neutral frying oil.
I love Jalapeños in my Hush Puppies for a little kick, but they are totally optional. You can replace it with a diced-up neutral or less spicy pepper to still add some color and add a pop of flavor.
I also added a recipe for a quick tartar sauce I like to use.
I’m cooking in my Midnight Bloom Apron that I released for my new Spring Collection now available at ChefTrenita.com.
Also featured this week are my All-Purpose and Citrus Garden seasoning blends. I especially love using the Citrus Garden Blend for Seafood or vegetables to give everything a nice herby/citrus touch.
Thank you all so much for all the continued support in buying up all the Seasonings and Aprons! It means a lot to get the comments and tags on social media of you all cooking in my aprons or using the seasonings at home in your own kitchen. Be on the lookout for some more exciting projects coming up.
I hope you all love making these recipes at home as much as I did!
Enjoy :)
