Back in 2020, car was pretty much your only way to maintain some measure of freedom. But, currently, we are pushed out of owning cars. We are priced out of owning a car and tody’s cars are over-engineered ‘smart’ devices on wheels. The bottom line is that cars used to give us too much freedom and that has to be dealt with, one way or another.
Update: Folks, I hear you. Planned obsolescence is a thing and is a part of this scheme regarding new cars - absolutely. The default position of the average person is that “the corporations are greedy”. Yes, they are that. But it is only one of multiple factors of the new vehicles. It is also forcing on us the Agenda 2030, that is, getting us out of our cars and more. It is the tracking and survailance. It is the control someone has over the new cars. And I do mean control; the newer cars can be turned off or their features can be turned off. Some hacker or a 3-letter entity can drive you into a tree or a boulder. And that doesn’t even take in account all the inherent problems with the EVs if you happen to be driving one.
