Just a few notes on the Senate election this week, featuring Darline Lettie Nordone, sister of the late Lindsey Graham, who is miraculously now “Darline Graham.”
I’ve long opined that an oyster has the mental capacity to serve as a United States senator, but it’s a decent idea for the person walking into the office to refrain from saying something on the debate stage like, “I don’t know much about foreign policy.” I’m sure Darline is a lovely lady, but she is less qualified than Kamala Harris — and that takes some doing.
The question for all South Carolinians is, “Why did Trump appoint her?” It was supposedly done as a kind gesture, but then he’s gone on to support her candidacy like she’s got a resume on par with Victor Davis Hansen.
To tell you why I think he did so, I’ll give you a quick anecdote. I was drafted onto the Charleston County Republican Committee, and for a few months attended the meetings — such as they were.
At the big annual event, the featured speaker was Rand Paul, who strode in to give us a 30-minute lecture on why Trump’s tariffs would fail, and he himself was smarter than the entire staff surrounding POTUS making decisions that would change global trade.
I guess he read a pamphlet, or something. Or remembered that quote from the economics teacher in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
This, in a nutshell, is the Republican Congress — a sad mixture of soulless “mavericks,” narcists and self-serving losers — but losers who love to lose “with their integrity intact.” Folks who “can walk with their heads held high” as they destroy the Republic because they’re all so honorable and smart. Much smarter than the hive.
The Democrats, who at this point are beginning to embody Satanic evil, kick Republicans around with an effectiveness usually found only among liberal white women in Minneapolis humiliating ICE. However, here’s how they do it: They block vote, and are even willing to castrate and mutilate helpless children for the sake of block-voting power.
Alaska, Colorado, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon and Vermont all have laws allowing a “mother” to just change her mind about abortion at any time and shove a Black & Decker into the baby’s skull — even if the child could be delivered healthy the same day.
Who votes for literal infanticide, on par with the pagan psychopaths of the Aztec Empire? Democrats. Not because they ALL believe in it, but because the party leadership declares, “This is what we’re doing. You will vote for it, or we’ll kick your ass to the curb.”
In congressional Democrats, re-election is more important than what will happen when they are standing in front of the White Throne of Judgment.
And Republicans? No better. They can’t even get the SAVE Act passed. Why? Because the “honorable mavericks,” turncoats, RINOs and carpetbaggers aren’t interested in forcing our agenda down socialists’ throats by block voting … and the only logical reason can be … we’re run by a uni-party.
Okay, so what’s with President Trump and Mrs. “Graham?”
Because Trump knows the truth of the uni-party — there’s no difference between Republicans and Democrats — and everyone outside his directly and personally vetted administration is willing to backstab him from getting a free Starbucks coupon.
With Mrs. “Graham,” he’s probably said, “I’ll give you the easiest job in history; you’ll be swimming in power; you can make yourself rich; you can have it all, but there’s one rule: You vote with me, no questions asked. You break that rule, and I will personally destroy your life.”
Trump has two years left to set out what he’s committed to do — end globalism and right the ship of state — and he can’t afford a single person in Congress who won’t toe the line to the bitter end.
I, for one, will once again be humiliated by South Carolina politics if Mrs. “Graham” is elected … because I believe Ralph Norman is experienced and will toe the line.
However, Mr. Norman went against President Trump three times and endorsed Nikki Haley for president. Will he toe the line every single time? I don’t know — but if I was President Trump facing impeachment, imprisonment and financial ruin if the Democrats regain power, I don’t know if I’d risk it either.
In the words of the great comedian Chris Rock, “I ain’t saying I approve … but I understand.”

The University Center District is hosting an outdoor movie night at the historic Power House. Located in the heart of the UC District, directly beside the Power House, this new series has created a fun and welcoming destination for families, friends and movie lovers.
Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets, relax on the green space, and enjoy a movie under the stars in one of Rock Hill’s most unique historic settings. The series will feature a variety of family-friendly and fan-favorite films, making it the perfect way to spend an evening in the district.

Come to York this Tuesday for an evening in its Summer Speaker Series as Zach Lemhouse explores the life and legacy of William Hill and the important role Hill’s Ironworks played in York’s early history. The event runs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This event will be held at Allison Creek Park. Please note that there is some elevation along the hiking trails.

Let this September be the time you side aside time to learn how to draw. This four-week adult course set in a welcoming studio environment and no experience is required.
Making Your Mark: Foundations of Drawing is the first of a series of classes now being offered by Blue Spirit Art Studio & Gallery. Working from direct observation, students will learn fundamental drawing techniques and explore how line, proportion, perspective, value, space and composition work together to create convincing, expressive drawings.
The instructor is Katherine Rausch. Classes will be held on the Fridays of September 4, 11, 18 and 25. The course price is $90, and a recommended materials list will be provided upon registration. Select studio materials will be supplied by Blue Spirit Art Studio & Gallery.
