You think to yourself: “Self, wouldn’t it be cool if <blank> existed?” (The <blank> is anything you think would be beneficial to society because you think it would be beneficial.)
So... you set out to make <blank>.
You finally finish making <blank> after much problem-solving and struggling to make <blank> work right. And you show the world!
Crickets.
Womp.
They say we are supposed to build what the audience wants.
We are also part of the audience.
Logically, as part of the audience, we build <blank> because we want <blank>.
But few others do.
Others are not as interested in what we build.
But they are interested in, even excited about, something that has been built, just not what we built.
Womp.
What was built was not a failure. It is just a lack of mass appeal. A lack of enough appeal to make it financially viable.
So, you are left with a decision: Do I continue with <blank>?
They say never quit. That success is just one something away (phone call, funnel, etc).
But you may never see success on the path you are on with <blank>.
Or, maybe you will.
The key is not quitting everything. You can pivot.
Pivoting is not quitting. As I write this, I hear in my mind’s ear Ross from Friends scream, “Pivot! Pivot! Pivot!”
Maybe that is the decision: Don’t quit, pivot!
You might change something in <blank> to appeal to more people.
You might quit <blank> and start something new.
Either way, you don’t quit. You just pivot!
And that turns a Wednesday womp into a win!
