Which I am so grateful for the questions, allowing for great reflection and connection with oneself and community who I am so thankful to be apart. I am so thankful for the sessions that kernel held, learning and connecting with so many great people anchored me, and allowed me to peak in, gain footing, and collaborate with many other great minds to reimagine the tools, specifically an interconnected web of computers, that are at our fingertips.
I walked out onto the 2018 lava flow, in puna, Hawaii; after picking oranges, passion fruits, mangosteen and a beautiful rollinia. As I walked out I felt more like an observer of my body and the actions and roles it fills. As I contemplated the song, where I was, which was actually just above my body. I then scaled the highest point of the lava around to sit and compile this experience into words.
Sparking joy for me lately is my not knowing.
As I write this I remember a junto round in kernel; where I explored not knowing for a minute or two with a fellow.
It sparks joy because I am most comfortable here, a willingness to float and explore joy in many ways that others do. How fear and joy both help us assure ourselves?
Another joy and remembrance that kernel helped cultivate was a dinner in Lisbon! About 13 of us gathered in a cozy small restaurant down a flight of stairs called 26 vegan food project. Which took classic Portuguese dishes and spun them to carefully plated vegan alternatives. It buzzed some great connections; for me allowed me to inquire into so many interesting people and the things that spark joy within them. Very grateful for that place in time.
A work I explored during kernel, but came across before, was impact networks, by David Ehrlichmen. Which intermingled with an experience when I went to a KCA(kumukahi community association) meeting two days ago. We gathered by the ocean, just off mango road(government beach rd) where one of two fresh water streams exit into the ocean, a sacred place. Many stakeholders of the land came together to listen to one another and explore ways in which the land should be managed, preserved, and cared for. Specific to the native Hawaiians they have burial sites on some of this land and learned from them why this land has great importance. Elsewhere in the conversation sparking my interests in botanical surveys, archeological surveys, and policy. They are trying to work with the council/government and the KCA provides a place for people to come together. I think how can we coordinate this better, with the intersection and availability of transparent funding streams, proposals for expenditures, and education of why this land should be protected.
What had stuck with me from impact networks, is similar to what brings me to kernel and this space in general.
How can coordinate optimal outcomes between many stakeholders?
One quote stuck out from that meeting spoken from a native who used his own dialect mixing Hawaiian and English had a energising enthusiasm for what he was saying.

Currently I am grappling with, and would like eyes on and help with. A network of eco villages, and ways to start them up. To create a ngo, dao, and network that helps acquire land for preserving land and stewarding it.
A rough example would be to buy 100 acres devote 95 acres for old growth, preservation, conservation, not build-able land. With 5 acres to build some structures for stewards of the land to live on, and create create a highly productive food forest. To create a resilient and local way to provide food and other positive socio economic benefits to the surrounding area.
This can plug into a network that can trade goods between them. Creating these new hyper connected food secure communities through technology can be very useful for how we can reimagine life outside of cities, while conserving what nature and history we have.

To wrap up I wanted to talk about attractors direction, and lead into another piece I am working on. Attractors came into my thought learning about vector fields, I like to touch on how things seemingly stable, such as a food source, water source, or social source seem to have direction and they have the ability to attract.
This is in dichotomy with my not knowing.
Pivotal because my not knowing think it is knowing in a constant wave of both. Moments as if they are separate, as we grapple with are unfolding, tightening, and expansive language we have.
