What up! Two updates in one week? Is the sky caving in?
Nope, just wanted to let y’all know about one more item of goodness that’s available in the Philip K. Discs store. I added a super-limited number of the latest issue of MEANS magazine. If you’re not familiar with MEANS, it’s a UK-based magazine dedicated to underground, experimental, and intermedial arts and culture. It was founded by Daniel Alexander Hignell-Tully (The Quietus, Freq, Toneshift), and consists of a both a digital site and a quarterly physical magazine.
That ad right up there? That was created by Sean Wárs of hell on hearth (formerly of Bodies on Everest) for the inaugural issue of MEANS, which came out last fall. I hate that I missed being able to bring some copies of Issue 01 to the States, and I didn’t want to make that mistake again with Issue 02.
This second issue is focused on the interconnected themes of Power, Privilege, and Politics. It features:
- An interview with Iranian composer Siavash Amini
- Memoirs from the political turmoil of the Czech Republic
- An exploration of the Ukrainian experimental underground
- Academic reflections on power and artistry
- Reviews covering a range of grass-roots / underground music
- Much, much more...
