It surprised me that it was Epiphany that made us breakfast. It shocked me even more that the food she prepared was edible. Growing up, she had never been a good cook. I can remember many a time when she burned water.
“Terrence taught me how to cook,” she told us. “He didn’t teach me anything fancy, just the basics.”
“Terrence cooks?” Linus asked, eyeing both me and Joel.
“He’s a chef compared to me,” my sister continued. “He makes all kinds of things.”
“Even more of an incentive for me to fuck him,” said Joel after Epiphany wandered from the kitchen.
Linus narrowed his eyes. “What do you need a cook for? All anybody has to do for you is pour you a glass of blood and you’re good.”
“A man that knows his way around the kitchen knows his way around the bedroom. Speaking of which, where is that bucket of fuck?”
“He went out,” I said. “He won’t be back until this afternoon. I suppose he wanted to give us some privacy while the will is being read.”
My cousin arrived with my mom’s attorney in tow. The lawyer was a shrimpy, balding middle-aged man who seemed afraid of his own shadow. He wasn’t my type but this didn’t deter Linus from making eyes at him.
“I gotta thing for cute repressed guys like him.”
I raised an eyebrow. “You have a thing for ANY kind of guy.”
We all made our way into my dad’s study and sat in silence while my mom’s last will and testament was being read. Me, being the oldest, was the executor of the estate. No surprise there. The house and the money she, of course, left to me and Epiphany. There was one item, however, that caused an uproar.
To my son, Sean Everett Abernathy, I bequeath to you The Book of Seven Keys.
“WHAT?!” It was Ryan that caused the ruckus. “That’s bullshit! She can’t do that!”
“Sit down!” I told him. I was just as surprised as he, but there wasn’t any need for the theatrics.
“You know damn well she can’t pass that book onto you!”
“I said, sit down!”
“Shut up!”
“SIT DOWN!” Fangs drawn, Joel glared across the room at Ryan.
My cousin snorted at him. “Make me.”
Before I could do or say anything, Joel had vamp sped across the room.
“Reverbero.”
The vampire was swept off his feet in mid assault and went flying back across the room. Joel crashed through the closed sliding doors and then skidded across the hardwood floor of the vestibule. Linus quickly went to see if he was alright. Of course, he was.
“Was that necessary?!”
“Don’t start that shit!” Ryan barked at me. “You saw him! He came at me!”
Joel peeled himself off the floor. A shiver ran through me when I saw his face. He had a look in his eyes that I had never seen before. It was a look of pure rage.
“You wanna go again?” my cousin smirked. “Come on. Come at me, bitch.”
Again, the vampire charged for him.
“Tu exilium.”
Joel lost his footing once more and was consumed in a whirlwind that dragged him out the front door and tossing him onto the front lawn. My sister and I followed Linus out into the yard and helped the disoriented vamp to his feet.
Ryan stalked us out onto the porch. “Ready for round three?”
“Stop it! Just stop!”
“It’s typical of a vampire to act first and think later. What exactly did this fucker think I was gonna do, stand there and let him drain me?”
“Go home, Ryan!” Epiphany snapped. “Just go the fuck home!”
Our cousin shrugged. “Fine,” he said, making his way down the walkway, “but I’ll be back tomorrow for the book. Oh, and don’t bother trying to take your friend back inside. I’ve placed a banishment spell on the house.”
“You two didn’t have to come here with me. I’m the only one that can’t get back in the house.”
We were in a puny room at the local motel a few miles outside of town.
“We’re a unit,” Linus said. “Where one goes, we all go.”
I nodded in agreement. Joel sighed and then punched the palm of his hand in anger.
“I’m sorry,” he told me. “I shouldn’t have let that piece of shit get to me but he’s such a CUNT!”
“Yeah,” I agreed, “but what can you do? Hopefully, Epiphany discovers some way to break the spell by tomorrow.”
“Sean, if you don’t mind me asking, just what the fuck is The Book of Seven Keys?” Joel inquired.
“It’s the family’s grimoire. It’s a book of spells that have been created and collected since my great grandfather started the coven. It’s tradition that the oldest child of the coven leader inherits the book.”
“So why did your mom have it?” Linus asked, “and why is she giving it to you?”
“Because she knew that Sean would be a better coven leader than that conceited fucker!” Joel boomed. “It’s not rocket science, Ly.”
If only it were that simple. We all froze when we heard a knock at the door. Joel was at the ready with his fangs and I rolled my eyes. If somebody came to harm us, I doubt they would’ve bothered to knock. I answered the door and found Terrence’s handsome happy-go-lucky face on the other side of it.
“Oh, hey,” he said looking a bit nervous. “I didn’t come at a bad time, did I?”
“No, of course not,” Linus crooned, with that mischievous grin on his face. He grabbed the nurse by the wrist and ushered him inside. “Come sit down. What brings you way out here?”
Terrence took a seat in a chair across from the twin bed where the vampire and incubus were salivating. “I came by to see how you were doing. Epiphany told me about what had happened. It’s messed up what your cousin is doing.”
“Yeah,” said Joel. “It sucks. Life ain’t fair. Take off your shirt.”
I shot the vamper a dirty look and he raised an eyebrow back at me. I folded my arms.
“Has she been able to break the banishment spell?”
“Not yet. I have a feeling she’s going to be spending the rest of the night agonizing over it, though.”
“If you lose those scrubs, I’ll give you something to do for the rest of the night.”
“JOEL!”
“And trust me, straight boy, you won’t be in any agony.”
My face went hot and Terrence started to laugh. “I’m sorry,” I said. “Joel is still reeling from this afternoon.”
“It’s okay,” Terrence smiled. “Look, I really came over here because I think I could be of some help.”
“Whatever help you’re willing to offer will be greatly rewarded,” Linus murmured, shooting our guest the “fuck me” eyes.
God! Could these two be any more obvious?!
Terrence handed me an envelope from his jacket pocket. “Your mom told me to give this to you once the will was read. She said that it explains everything.”
Epiphany, the boys, and I had breakfast out on the veranda. It was one of those nice mid-spring days in which the weather was perfect. The sun was shining and the breeze was warm. It was the first time in weeks that I had felt such a sense of tranquility, but the real peace wouldn’t come until business had been taken care of. I grinned at the thought of it.
“I assume that you couldn’t break the spell?” said Ryan, slithering up the walkway. “It’s cute that you all spent the night out here with the vamper in solidarity.”
Joel narrowed his eyes. “You’re finished, you piece of shit.”
My cousin snorted. “Just give me the grimoire and I’ll be on my merry way.”
“You’re not getting it,” Epiphany cut in, “because it doesn’t belong to you. It belongs to my brother.”
“Sean, will you please educate your dense sister on the family tradition?”
“We are going by the family tradition. I’m now coven leader.”
Ryan smiled smugly. “That position goes from oldest child to oldest child. Last I checked, you are just the oldest child of a second born. It doesn’t work that way, motherfucker.”
“But that changes when the oldest child doesn’t have any biological children of their own, motherfucker.”
Ryan laughed. This didn’t faze him.
“It’s no secret that your parents’ marriage was rocky,” I continued, “and that both of them took solace in other people. I don’t blame your mother for doing what she did. Uncle Robert was a bastard and what’s good for the goose is good for the gander but he wasn’t your father, at least, not genetically. I’m sure your mother told you that.”
“You’re delusional. Who told you this lie? Was it the blood sucker or the nympho demon?”
Joel growled.
“Easy!” I heard Linus say. “Relax!”
“My mom instructed for me to have this letter after her will was read,” I explained. “Your mother confessed to her that Uncle Robert wasn’t your natural father.”
Ryan shook his head. “That is such bullshit.”
“Also, that she intended on telling you the truth. The secret was eating away at her. She told you, didn’t she?”
“Oh please!”
“That’s why you killed her and made it look like a suicide.”
“That’s a serious accusation,” Ryan snorted. “My mother struggled with depression for years! She was unstable!”
“My mom said that she had never seen her healthier.”
“Your mom was a lying, nosy bitch that welcomed the fact that her daughter is an airhead and her son’s a fag!”
“Let me have him!” Joel whispered to me. His voice was full of enraged passion. “Just let me have him! One flick of my wrist and he’s gone!”
I ignored him. Killing Ryan wouldn’t solve anything and death would be too merciful.
“It’s the truth, isn’t it?” I asked. “You killed your own mother to hold onto being coven leader.”
“Of course, it’s the truth,” said Linus, dryly. “I couldn’t hear his heart pounding all the way over here if it weren’t.”
“Et conlidam!”
The four of us hit the ground as the first story windows of the house exploded around us. Jagged shards of glass were sent in all directions. Seeing his chance at glory, Ryan dashed for the interior of the residence only to discover that we were a few steps ahead of him.
“What the hell?!”
He pushed and punched at the open threshold of the home but the invisible barrier was unyielding.
“Epiphany may not have been able to break the spell,” I said, “but she could manipulate it. Repellam!“
Ryan was swept off his feet and thrown across the yard. Seizing the opportunity, Joel vamp sped across the grass. His fangs at the ready.
“Joel, no! NO!”
My cousin’s face began to turn red as the vampire was holding him by the throat, his legs frantically swinging back and forth in search for the ground.
“Sean, are you fucking kidding me?! He calls your mom a liar, Epiphany an airhead, and you a fag and you want to spare him?!”
“He isn’t worth it!”
“That’s debatable.”
“Joel!”
The vampire groaned. Withdrawing his fangs, he glared at Ryan. “You are so fucking lucky!”
Like a rag doll, Joel tossed him. My cousin went soaring into the street, bouncing off the windshield of his car before tumbling onto the pavement.
My sister decided to go out with some friends that night, letting us boys have the house to ourselves. I already knew what Joel and Linus wanted to do and I couldn’t deny that it was a good a time as any to allow a little relaxation. The three of us sat in the living room waiting anxiously in silence. Both the incubus and vampire perked up when they saw the headlights of a car pull into the driveway. Terrence walked in moments later as merry as ever. His strong muscled arms were consumed with shopping bags. When he saw all of us sitting and waiting, his demeanor changed.
“Is something wrong? I mean, I told Epiphany I would be out by the end of the week.”
“Calm down,” I smiled. “There’s nothing wrong. Look, the three of us wanted to thank you for-”
Before I could finish, Joel grabbed him by the collar and forced a deep, searing kiss.
“Well,” he said to me and Linus, “are we gonna do this or are you gonna let me have him all to myself?”
We walked over and Joel stripped Terrence’s shirt off him, revealing his pronounced chest and stomach muscles. Linus’ mouth found the redhead’s nipples and he began to suck happily as he eased a hand into his pants.
The nurse shuttered. “I don’t think we should do this,” he said, trying his best not to give in. “I’ve never been with a guy-”
Joel silenced him with another kiss and he no longer protested. Temptation and Linus’ expertise at sucking cock shattered all of his reservations. We were soon on the floor, a large naked pile of writhing, whimpering flesh kissing, stroking, sucking, and fingering to our heart’s content.
“I need cock. Fuck me!”
Linus bent himself over the coffee table, spreading his ass cheeks for all of us to admire his hairy hole. Without thinking twice, Terrence spat into his hand and stroked his cock with the makeshift lube. He got into position and gently pushed himself inside. The incubus whimpered as the redhead’s hips began their rhythmic dance. Joel wrapped his arms around Terrence, his fingers toying with the nurse’s nipples and his mouth kissing and nibbling at his neck. Linus grabbed my cock, leading me over and quickly taking me in his mouth.
“That’s it.” Joel’s voice was deep and gentle. He was speaking directly in Terrence’s ear. “Fuck him. Fuck his ass.”
His eyes shut, Terrence looked as if he was in pure nirvana. Joel’s words were not only driving him mad but me as well.
“Give it to him. Discipline his hole.”
I bit my lip and my body shook.
“Oh god!” Terrence cried. “Oh god!”
“That’s it, straight boy. Don’t fight it! Come inside him. Let him milk the come right out of you.”
Terrence let out an explosive yell, collapsing breathlessly in Joel’s arms. The vampire smiled. “Now it’s your turn to get bred, straight boy. Sean, get over here and loosen up this newbie for me. You know I’m not a fan of hard work.”
I pulled my cock out of the incubus’ mouth and I bent the redhead over the table. Linus ensured that he had gotten my dick as slick as possible. I spread Terrence’s cheeks to find a hairless hole. It was cute and pink and reminded me of a rosebud. It had clearly never been used before, but that was all about to change. Teasing his hole with a finger, I gradually worked my way in. I carefully moved my finger in and out, slowly coercing his hole from unyielding to welcoming. I spat on my cock to ensure that there would as little resistance as possible. Gradually, I pushed the head in and Terrence groaned.
“Deep breaths,” Linus coaxed. “Deep breaths. Relax.”
After a minute, I was buried to the hilt in him. I grabbed his hips and slowly began my assault on his hole. His groans of pain soon morphed into moans of pleasure as I quickened my pace. He was tight and taking my cock like a pro. Joel smiled hungrily down at the meeting point of me and Terrence’s bodies.
“Fuck, that’s hot! How’s that dick feel, straight boy?”
The nurse gave an undecipherable reply and the vampire’s smile widened. I felt my balls began to swell. I wrapped my arms around Terrence’s body, thrusting all of my endurance into him.
“Yeah! That’s it, Sean! Fuck him like a man! Come inside him!”
Before I knew it, I had done just so. The orgasm quick and intense, left me exhausted and disoriented.
“Oh yeah!” Joel smiled, inspecting the damage. “Sean had a great time with you.”
The jizz was oozing out of Terrence and running down his thighs soaking the carpet. This didn’t matter to Joel as he sunk his dick in the mewling redhead without mercy.
“Fuck!”
Joel pounded him hard and deep, forcing his prey to accept all nine inches of him. Terrence whimpered and moaned, clearly enjoying every second.
“Bite me,” he pleaded. “Bite me.”
Joel’s grin grew. “ ‘Bite me’ what?” he asked.
“Bite me, sir.”
The vampire smiled and sank his fangs into the crook of Terrence’s neck, causing him to come again. Joel laughed. “Not into girls as much as you thought, huh, straight boy?”
Sweat dripping from his forehead, Terrence laughed and responded with a kiss. It was then when we collapsed on the rug, exhausted and drunk on endorphins. Joel lit a cigarette and one by one we all took a drag. It was good to be coven leader.
