Welcome to winter. The nights have been particularly frosty recently which I don’t mind in the slightest. I am a creature that was definitely built for the cooler weather. Not a lot happened in May, I actually ended up taking most of the off from my writing to adjust a few plans going forward.
A Melody of Death is now officially out in the world. It released on the 30th of May and is available pretty much everywhere can purchase ebooks but it is also available as part of your Kobo Plus subscription.
I announced the title of the third and final book in the Isles of Bright and Shadow trilogy and if you didn’t see the announcement it is An Echo of Hope. I also started working on it back at the end of April but have since shelved it, just temporarily, while I complete revision work on the still unannounced project from earlier this year. There will be an official announcement about this project very soon.
I read A Love by Design by Elizabeth Everett and whilst it was a fun read I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would can certainly not as much as I enjoyed A Perfect Equation.
I have also been reading The Virgin’s Promise by Kim Hudson and it is a fantastic resource. If you are already familiar with the hero’s journey of other archetypal story structures or if those sorts of topics interest you then it is well worth the read.
June is Pride Month which means there are lots of sales and promotions going on that feature books with LGBTQ+ representation which is fantastic. And in case you weren’t already aware my books feature various characters who fall under the LGBTQ+ umbrella, though Margot and Molly from my Sovereigns of Bright and Shadow series are the most obvious.
As part of Pride Month a bunch of past and present SPFBO authors have made a list of our LGBTQ+ representative titles for you. Some are on sale for all or part of the month so it is a great time to diversify your reading lists. You can check out the list of titles here:
The Indie Fantasy Addicts Summer Reading Challenge starts on 21st June. It is a fantastic event that runs from June to September every year with lots of games and prizes and general fun. If you are a lover of indie fantasy and are not a member of the IFA then you really should come join us.
