Central School PTO · Roadrunner Updates

Dear Central Families and Friends,

We hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! Thank you to all who joined us for the PTO Winter Socials on Jan 9th at BuckleDown Brewery and Flying High. We had a fantastic turnout (especially at Flying High, with 99 kids in attendance!) and raised nearly $700.

A few quick reminders:

  • All are welcome to attend the PTO General Meeting next Monday, Jan 26th, at 6:30PM in the Central Library. We’ll be sharing details about the upcoming Cultural Heritage Festival, and two lucky attendees will win either Central swag or front-row seats to the 4th & 5th Grade Spring Musical!

  • Be sure to mark your calendar for Dine Out at La Barra on Thursday, Jan 29th. La Barra will donate 20% of orders between 4-9PM back to Central.

  • There are a handful of Cultural Arts volunteer slots open for these classrooms: K - Sula; 1st - Chumley; 2nd - Neal; 4th - Lyson, Bindon. More info below.

Speaking of the Cultural Heritage Festival, this special bi-annual event is coming up on Thursday, March 12, and family registration is now open. Read on for more details!

Central’s biannual Cultural Heritage Festival is coming up on Thursday, March 12th.

Join us for an exciting evening that takes students and families on a sensory journey around the world! This special event celebrates global cultures through taste, sight, sound, and hands-on experiences, helping our children explore cultural differences while discovering what we all share in common.

  • 🪇 Families are encouraged to participate by representing a country of their choice and planning simple food samples, activities, and share cultural artifacts, clothing, or decorations.

  • 🌎 All country displays will come together in the Hauser Gym, creating a vibrant, world-tour experience for students, families, and staff.

  • 📋 If your family is interested in sharing your cultural heritage please sign up by February 28 and indicate the country you’d like to represent in the general volunteer slot.

There are a handful of volunteer spots still available in February and March for the Cultural Arts Program.

February

  • Kindergarten (Sula) - The Wisdom of the Universe, Christie Belcourt

March

  • 1st Grade (Chumley) - The Scream, Edvard Munch

  • 2nd Grade (Neal) - Tamara in a Green Bugatti, Tamara de Lempicka
