Head Tide Hill Road in Whitefield was closed for hours Thursday after the subject of an arrest warrant fled into a home and refused to submit to arrest.

The person was eventually taken into custody Thursday night, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.

Around 9 a.m., sheriff’s deputies tried to serve an arrest warrant on Head Tide Road, which is also Route 194.

Based on threats the person made to deputies, the Maine State Police Tactical and Crisis Negotiation teams also responded.

The sheriff’s office said in an update at about 8:20 p.m. that the person was taken into custody “after extended negotiations” and that the road was reopened.

The sheriff’s office said it would release additional information about the incident on Friday.

Staff Writer Drew Johnson contributed to this report.
