Ah, Larry Summers. The former president of Harvard University who resigned after a no-confidence vote by the faculty of Harvard for, among others, insulting Cornel West so badly that West left for Princeton, protecting a friend and protégé who defrauded the U.S. government, and suggesting at a conference that intrinsic aptitude could explain why women were underrepresented in science and engineering. Don’t cry for him, though—after departing Harvard, he slummed it at the hedge fund D.E. Shaw for a few years before getting tapped to join the Obama Administration.

Currently, he is a professor at Harvard again, replete with tenure and all the trappings that tenure affords. If he weren’t a veritable academia nepo baby, I’d be impressed. But both his parents were economics professors at the University of Pennsylvania, and two of his uncles won the Nobel Prize in Economics. Given that, I’d say Summers is meeting expectations.
