This Sunday, September 7th, is another opportunity for us to celebrate the life-changing resurrection of Jesus together! Our weekly worship gathering starts at 10am and features time in worship, time in the Word, and time in prayer together. Being together in God’s presence like this weekly is a unique and powerful way for us to encounter Him and respond to His direction & guidance.
While our normal worship time is unchanged, this Sunday we’ll be meeting together with our friends from SOCC (at their place) for our weekly Worship Gathering. As we continue to move toward merging with them, they’ve invited us to join them for their annual Fall Welcome. Details are on the postcard below. This is an important time for us to draw together and seek the Lord’s guidance and blessing for our future, so we’d love to have you join us!
Sunday, September 7th at 10am: Sunday Worship Gathering at SOCC
Sunday, September 7th at 12:00pm: Fall Welcome (Potluck Meal & Yard Games)
Wednesday, September 10th at 7:00pm: Citywide Prayer at the HOP.
Sunday, September 14th at 10am: Sunday Worship Gathering at CCV
Tuesday, September 16th at 6:30pm: Spiritual Formation Home Group at Shoemakers
This Sunday, Sept. 7th, is the annual Fall Welcome Sunday at SOCC, which we’re invited to join them for. This event will feature a united Sunday Worship Gathering, followed by a Potluck meal with yard games and other fun activities. It’s a great opportunity to kick off the Fall Season, make some new friends, and continue to press into what we believe God is calling us to together!
Note: The CCV Offering Box will be on site with us next week, or you can choose to give online. Until the merger is finalized we’ll continue to collect our offerings separately.
As you may know, Matt Rider has been faithfully serving CCV as Technical Director (and in many other capacities) over the last several years. Sadly (for us!), Matt has recently accepted a position working for a Christian camp in New Mexico, and will be heading west next week. This Sunday will be his last with us unless the Lord calls him back sometime in the future. With this in mind, let’s send Matt off with a generous blessing! If you’d like to give a designated gift for this purpose, please place it in the offering box this Sunday and write “Matt’s blessing” in the memo line. Also, please continue to pray for him, as we will Sunday morning.
For the last six months we’ve been in discussion and prayer about merging CCV with Spirit of Christ Church in Haslett. After a recent congregational poll at SOCC, both churches are now largely in support of the idea, and negotiations between the two bodies and have kept moving forward slowly and deliberately.
Please continue to pray for God’s wisdom, guidance, confirmation and provision as we negotiate what this merger would look like. Though a precise timeline is still uncertain, we’re discerning that God’s Spirit is still guiding us in this direction, and we’re hopeful it can happen sometime this fall.
Weekly Budget Target: $2900 wk./$101,500 ytd.
YTD Actual Income: $89,976 ($11,524 under amt. needed to meet annual budget)
YTD Actual Expenses: $87,342
YTD Net Income: +$2634
Note: Please bear in mind that these numbers are Year-To-Date. Whenever our cash flow (net income) is negative, it means we are operating using reserves from the previous year, which are limited. Please continue to pray with us for God’s provision!
While all of our fixed expenses have been covered YTD, we are a bit behind on meeting Pastor Kevn’s payroll.
“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:6-8
