Kevin Shoemaker · Living Well from Capital City Vineyard

This Sunday, September 21st, is another opportunity for us to celebrate the life-changing resurrection of Jesus together! Our weekly worship gathering starts at 10am and features time in worship, time in the Word, and time in prayer together. Being TOGETHER in God’s presence like this weekly (or as regularly as possible) is a unique and powerful way for us to encounter God and respond to His direction & guidance.

Join us this week as Pastor Kevin continues teaching through 1 Peter, with a message on 1 Peter 5:1-5, called “Shepherding The Flock”.

Sunday, September 21st at 10am: Sunday Worship Gathering

Tuesday, September 23rd at 6:30pm: Spiritual Formation Home Group at Shoemakers

Wednesday, September 24th at 7:00pm: Citywide Prayer at the HOP.

Sunday, September 28th at 10am: Sunday Worship Gathering at CCV

Have a hunger for more fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ? Have an interest in how to deepen your own Spiritual Formation? Or, at the very least, do you enjoy a good potluck meal? If any or all of these apply to you, we’d love to have you join us for home group on Tuesday nights at the Shoemaker’s home in Haslett. We’ll begin with a potluck meal at 6:30pm, then transition to a time of worship, discussion & prayer using John Mark Comer’s video materials on “Practicing The Way”. Each month we’ll focus on a different spiritual discipline, learning how to implement these practices in our own walk with the Lord.

Plan ahead to join us for a special upcoming Vineyard gathering in Midland at New Life Vineyard Church to be held on Friday, October 10th and Saturday, October 11th. We’ve invited one of our National Leadership Team Members, Pastor Joel Seymour, to be with us for the weekend, and there will be a series of meetings Friday afternoon, Friday evening and Saturday morning. Think of it like a Conference, but you’re welcome to come for any part of the weekend that works for you. There is no individual cost and dinner on Friday will be provided for those attending.

For the last nine months we’ve been in discussion and prayer about merging CCV with Spirit of Christ Church in Haslett. After a recent congregational poll at SOCC, both churches are now largely in support of the idea, and negotiations between the two bodies have kept moving forward slowly and deliberately.

Please continue to pray for God’s wisdom, guidance, confirmation and provision as we negotiate what this merger would look like. We’ll be having another joint Elders meeting this Thursday evening. Though a precise timeline is still uncertain, we’re discerning that God’s Spirit is still leading us in this direction, and we’re hopeful it can happen later this fall.

Weekly Budget Target: $2900 wk./$107,00 ytd.

YTD Actual Income: $93,575 ($13,425 under amt. needed to meet annual budget)

YTD Actual Expenses: $91,811

YTD Net Income: +$1764

Note: Please bear in mind that these numbers are Year-To-Date. Whenever our cash flow (net income) is negative, it means we’re operating using reserves from the previous year, which are limited. Please continue to pray with us for God’s provision!

While all of our YTD fixed expenses have been covered for 2025, we are a bit behind on meeting Pastor Kevin’s payroll.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

2 Corinthians 9:6-8
