Matt Rider, Kevin Shoemaker · Living Well from Capital City Vineyard

This Sunday, August 17th, is another opportunity for us to celebrate the life-changing resurrection of Jesus together! Our weekly worship gathering starts at 10am and features time in worship, time in the Word, and time in prayer together. This Sunday we’ll continue our summer series focused on Peter’s 1st and 2nd letters with special attention given to 1 Peter 3:8ff.

Being together in God’s presence like this weekly is a unique and powerful way for us to encounter Him and respond to His direction & guidance. Summer is difficult with people coming and going on vacation, but please make every effort to stay connected and join with us in unity. This is an important time for us to draw together and seek the Lord’s guidance and blessing for our future. Whenever two or more are gathered in His name, the Spirit of Christ Jesus is at work among us! (Mt. 18:20)

This Sunday evening is our last Backyard BBQ of the summer at Pastor Kevin & Beth Ann Shoemaker’s home in Haslett. We’ll gather at 6pm to load the grill with whatever you contribute. Bring your own meat and a dish to share for the potluck meal. Michigan summers are a fantastic time to enjoy the opportunity to be together outdoors and deepen our connections as a spiritual family!

Join us on Sunday, August 31st for another Fire By Night Worship Gathering at SOCC. We’ll have a united worship team eager to lead us into the Lord’s presence, and a special opportunity to seek Him together as we head into another Fall season. This periodic meeting (every fifth Sunday when there is one) features extended worship, and Spirit-led ministry time, including testimonies, prophetic words and prayer for all who need it.

For the last six months we’ve been in discussion and prayer about merging CCV with Spirit of Christ Church in Haslett. Near the end of April, almost 2 months ago, each church took a congregational poll to help us discern what people are thinking about this possibility and how best to move forward. In each church a clear majority were supportive of the idea, but there were also some questions raised that we’ve been working to address before making a final decision. That process is still underway, and SOCC recently held a second poll that was much more favorable than the first.

We have begun to intentionally build relational connections between the two bodies and have kept moving forward slowly and deliberately. There are various upcoming opportunities for this, including Fire By Night Worship Gatherings and various potluck gatherings over the summer months. Please continue to pray for God’s wisdom, guidance, confirmation and provision as we negotiate what this merger could look like. A precise timeline is uncertain but we are discerning that God’s Spirit is still moving us in this direction, and we’re praying toward joining together this fall.

Weekly Budget Target: $2900 wk./$95,700 ytd.

YTD Actual Income: $86,350 ($9350 under amt. needed to meet annual budget)

YTD Actual Expenses: $83,733

YTD Net Income: +$2617

Note: Please bear in mind that these numbers are Year-To-Date. Whenever our cash flow (net income) is negative, it means we are operating using reserves from the previous year, which are limited. Please continue to pray with us for God’s provision!

While all of our fixed expenses have been covered YTD, we are a bit behind on meeting Pastor Kevn’s payroll.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

2 Corinthians 9:6-8
