I cannot dress for summer. Less clothes, less things to think about, this should be easy! And yet, I can’t quite grasp a summer uniform. It is too hot for my usual “cool girl” additions of a leather jacket or an effortless cashmere sweater. I feel overly girly in dresses, so I have resigned to a summer of elevated basics.
An elevated t-shirt and splurge-worthy pants
This tee is a new style to Jenni Kayne. Let me tell you why I like it. It is made of a nice weight cotton, but the key here is the arm length. It feels a little more chic and stylish. I have it in black as well.
Now for the pants that I have worn basically every day this summer. They are made of this soft lightweight cotton and cashmere blend. They have a little cargo detail that I show in the video below. They are pricey, but these have been my investment of the summer and it has paid off. I also have been wearing this similar and well-priced pair of pants as well.

The Perfect Black Swimsuit
Ever since I found this black one piece, I have stopped looking. It is made of a compression material that really supports. The thin straps add a sexy detail.
The Summer-to-Fall transition Piece
Dare I say fall yet? But I feel the need to discuss this sweater. It is the perfect shade of brown and is it light enough to wear in an air-conditioned room or on cool summer evening, but I can see it being a great layering piece heading into the autumn months.

Summer Stripes
Something about summer and stripes feels right. Maybe its my New England roots showing, but it is a simple way to break up a neutral look. I love this classic cotton sweater with a navy stripe, as well as this lightweight striped shirt in Taupe.
