Regina police have identified remains found in the backyard of a home in the North Central neighbourhood in early June as Wayne Joseph Breed, who would be 34 if he was alive today.
Officers were called to a home on the corner of Seventh Avenue and Retallack Street on June 9.
The caller told police they had found what appeared to be human remains buried outside of the home.
Regina police's major crimes and forensic units, the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and RCMP's historical case unit were all involved with the investigation.
According to police, Breed was not listed in any missing person databases.
Police say he was identified through information gathered from an appeal to the public and a DNA match made through a national RCMP database.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of Breed’s death.
