Gold Cup Parade Day 2026: What's open and closed on P.E.I.?

The annual Gold Cup Parade is taking place Friday, Aug. 21, in Charlottetown, and some businesses and services will be closed or operating on reduced hours.

Here is a partial list of what will be opened and closed, but it's a good idea to call ahead if you're planning on heading out.

Government offices and services

• Provincial government offices and Access P.E.I. locations in Queens and Kings counties will be closed.
• Public libraries in Kings and Queens counties will be closed.
• Canada Post mail delivery and post offices will operate on regular hours.
• Charlottetown City Hall will be open until noon.
• Summerside City Hall will operate on regular hours.
• T3 Transit will have a downtown bus detour in effect from 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Island Waste Management Corporation will operate regularly.
• P.E.I. Liquor stores will be open regular hours.
• Cannabis P.E.I. stores will be open regular hours.

Grocery and retail

• Sobeys locations across the province will operate on regular hours.
• Co-Op and Foodland locations across the province will operate on regular hours.
• Walmart locations in Charlottetown and Summerside will be open regular hours.
• Superstore locations across the province will be open regular hours.
• Royalty Crossing and the Confederation Court Mall in Charlottetown will be open regular hours.
• County Fair Mall in Summerside will be open regular hours.
• Brighton Clover Farm in Charlottetown will be open noon to 7 p.m.
• Kensington Food Basket will be open regular hours.
• Panda Mart in Charlottetown will be open regular hours.

Pharmacies

• Murphy's Pharmacy locations across P.E.I. will be open regular hours.
• Lawtons Drugs locations across P.E.I. will be open regular hours.
• Shoppers Drug Mart locations across P.E.I. will be open regular hours.
